g35 is luxurious and has more than enough power for daily commuting. Yes everyone and their mama drives one but its only a means of transportation right?

If you want luxury and performance, its going to cost $$$$$

whatever route he ends up going, i hope hes not going to rice it out ie: bodykits, lowering springs etc.

today, I'm going to test drive a MT Leggy, can't wait!

...and I just found out that one of clients has a friend that works for Subaru... he's going to ask her if, somehow, I can get some kind of hookup through her... I'm really hoping I can get some kind of company car with a few miles on it for a discounted price

I guess he meant lowering your car the cheap way. i.e. Ground Control "Coilovers" & cut springs. HAHA!

MT. def takes some time to get used to with the elec trottle, turbo, dual mass flywheel, and clutch. nothing like the 04 bmw 325xi i learned how to drive manual on. i prefer the lgt setup.

very easy to drive agressive, but hard to drive like a gradma, especially the 1-2 shift. so easy to snap your passengers necks around like rubber chickens when you first get it. once you get it down its very possible to shift without anyone knowing if you really wanted.

over all its always fun to drive and thats mainly why i bought it, then the good awd system, the crash ratings, and price were a big plus as well. interior could be nicer, but it nicer then anything else i've ever owned and i always get compliments. its no tl, but thats one of the strong points of the car. its basic and raw, gives you just what you need with just enough luxury. the 08s have much nicer interior, but the exterior sucks. personally i like the 06 spec b interior with navi. i really like brick leather.

owned it since nov 04 and its been great. the amount of power guys are putting down with these things on the stock sti block is nuts. do not test drive one unless you are prepared to buy very soon.

peace

Well he's going to test drive the Legacy GT and the 07 G35 sedan today. Too bad I'm at work so I can't go with him and try them myself.

My cousin just emailed me and he liked the Legacy GT performance, it's just he said he didn't like the plain styling he said. This afternoon he's going to test drive the 07 G35x sedan.

MS6 looks great on paper, I just dont dig the styling enough to dream about owning one. The MS3 would be a fun little daily driver though I bet

...didn't even get to test drive it...

the story:

I didn't say, but this particular Legacy GT was at one of those "mom and pop's" used car dealerships... I get there... and it's a lot where all the cars are crammed side by side... the Leggy was in the middle of the lot I guess the guy judged me by the way I was dressed... I also look really young for my age, and so maybe because of that... he just didn't take me very seriously... didn't really give me the time of day. He didn't offer to pull the car out, nor did I really wanted him to go through all the trouble.

BUT as I got closer to check out the car... I noticed something that looked like the front bumper had been repainted, and they kinda missed a little spot... I figured it was one of two possiblities...

1) it was in an accident, but wasn't reported therefore does NOT appear in Carfax

or

2) They simply repainted the front bumper cause it's natural for cars to get scuffs, paint chips from rocks and debris etc. etc...

I was thinking that latter.

So, I pointed out the fact that the bumper appeared to have been repainted, and all I wanted to hear was the simple explanation of #2, but the guy totally denied that the bumper was repainted... (but it was totally obvious that it was repainted) which led me to NOT trust him.... then, I pointed a dent, and some scratches... I guess he got annoyed with me and rolled his eyes and said "... You know it's NOT a new car, right?"

that was enough for me to just say "thanks for your time" and left

For some reason I like the Speed6. Never driven one, but rode in one at an AutoX. I came away pretty impressed with the car. Lots of goodies packed in - intelligent key, leather, bose stereo, navi - and the car can be had for a STEAL...<25k with a bunch of goodies thrown in. It looks better than the Legacy, EVO, and STi IMO - much more mature looking than the latter 2.

Again, can't comment on the driving dynamics. The one odd thing I noticed was that the hood bulges up and annoying blocks the lower part of the windshield. I believe the hood was raised to accomodate the newer motor, but it bugged me nonetheless.

Thats some BS. Just go drive one at a subaru dealer. I'm sure they will give you the time of day. 05-08 all running the same things for the most part

go look around on legacygt.com in the regional section for cali and find a good dealer

While test driving the MS6, I did note that the 6s parked next to it had a generally nicer (read: cleaner) appearance.

As for the TMIC, a hood scoop functionally makes sense but, I imagine Mazda did not want to go for the boy racer appearance associated with cars that tend to have them.

Though there are probably some dimensional conflicts (that I am too lazy to look into at this time), it seems that Mazda could have just gone with a 6s hood and incorporated a subtle scoop (a la LGT).

My cousin said that he has a tough time deciding betwee the 2007 G35x and the 2007 Legacy GT now. He said he would look at Audi too, but isn't sure about the reliability issues with Audis.

No, because he said now he wants to wait until the new Accord comes out this fall first. If its disappointing then he said he'll get the G35x.

The MazdaSpeed 6 has good performance, decent styling, and some nice touches (as others have pointed out). If you should get one is up to you, and what you're looking for in the car. You can get cars that are faster (Evo, STi, etc). You can get ones that are more luxurious and a little quicker stock (like the TL, Legacy, etc). But if the Speed 6 is the total package to you, go for it!

You think the TL is quicker than the Speed6? LOL!!!!

The LGT is about the same as the speed6 speed wise.

I would not consider MS6 AWD "right wheel" either since it has a FWD biased.

How fast can the MS6 go around Nurburing? I think it is pretty impressive that MS3 can go around "The Ring" in 8:39 minutes even if it is a "wrong wheel drive" car.

Is the MS6 AWD as good as Subaru? Hell no, but is it better than FWD? You bet your ass. If you want FWD over AWD then have fun w/that

Mind you Magic Man, I am by no means shitting on the MS6, but it seems as though you are be littling (sp?) the performance of the MS3. I am just trying to give respect where it is due.

On topic, I think its a good time to get a MS6 as the dealers can give you a good price. They are also produced in limited quaintly, so if you want to have a bit of exclusivity without paying your left nut, it is a good option.

I haven't not driven this car but I did considered it after selling my G35 coupe, since its 4 door has AWD and it's FI'ed. The interior is definitely nice for a Mazda. I think the only draw back is the halfass AWD which left much to be desired!

I said "a little quicker". Not on paper, though. But I raced a buddy of mine that has a Speed6, and I had him from off the line. At 60, I was 2.5 car lengths away. Could have been a fluke, though. I'm not too sure. Both cars were stock, btw.

Nope, not at all. The MS3 is a great car in it's class.

However, FWD is not my bag for performance.
