I been reading up on leasing for the past two weeks. Leasing works out well depending on which car you looking at. Some BMW leases have really low MF (money factors) with high residuals so it makes it a better choice for most to lease them.
So say in I lease a Z4 3.0si, at the end of the lease i figure I would lose about $2k compared to if i bought it and then sold it in 3 years. I personally get bored after 3 years of cars so knowing i dont have to worry about selling the car on my own would be nice. Plus the monthly payments are lower and i dont have to put ANY money down. I could use that downpayment money I would have used on financing and put it towards investing something. Would gain more than $2k by doing that alone.
But like i said it all depends on the car and its lease rates. I wont lease something that will make me lose more than 3k compared to buying it.
Leasing is never cheaper than buying (financing) in the long run. I know this but its so much more convenient. Also i want a roadster and i KNOW i will get sick of it within a few years. If i thought i would keep the car for awhile then yea i would buy it.
I also want a track car that i can beat on and not worry about it.

Cool...just checking. My dad actually just bought the RX330 that he leased for my mom. The car was worth more than 10K more than the purchase price at the end of the lease.

Kinda depends on how willing you are to giving up an extra 2 seats...
I have friends with 2-seaters (SLK, S2000) who have often lamented about how they regret not getting something that can seat more people.
Otherwise, I've read nothing but good stuff about the Z4.

I daily drive mine, but then I'm not everyone else. I find that the stiff ride and the noise melt away when the top is down. When the top is up - things could get irritatiing for some between the top and seats squeaking, engine noise, and what not.
Again depends on the type of driver and enthusiast you are. I just got back from the S2000 meet at the Dragon and there were folks who drove close to a 1000 miles one way in their S2000s - its not a terrible hwy car by any means.
A Z4 will offer you 80-85% of what an S2000 delivers, but with a more liveable personality.

My guess is that you'll burn thru pads on a track in this car - I know I do; although, I don't have any full maintenance offered on my car.
The high residuals and the maintenance coverage always entices potential buyers into BMW dealers and then leasing some of their models.
I like the Z4 - in fact, saw one today weaving in and out of traffic it looked good. Of course, I only saw its tail lights.

I'm gonna have to agree with the s2k fans here. I looked at the Z4 (the smallest engine variation) when shopping for the s2k, and comparing those the s2k had it beat on everything except comfort. The Z was quieter and more comfy inside (with the top up..I didn't get to test it with the top down) but when it came down to the fun, the honda FTW!!! Only gripe I have is what you said about the rocks pelting into the wheelwells. After a while though, driving it around town at like 4500rpms you don't even notice the pinging of pebbles...

Obviously the speed of the video footage has been slightly increased but god damnit that looks like fun. I wanted to go this year but all my friends who own S2k's already had passengers before I started asking around.

as much as i hate my backbreaking s2k sometimes,, i would still take S2k over any roaster that is $50k or less.

what interior..... sports car dont need to have a fancy (LUXURY) interior.. as long as it is functional. and fyi my s2000 has as much leather as my g35...
more shit = more weight = less fun = Not s2000

you can say that.. i drive it to work and school Monday - Friday.
I usually drive my g35c during the weekends. (until i sold it recently)
now s2000 is my only car
i know i am weird.
yah sometimes i wish my cabin was a little quieter.. but i CANT WAIT to drive my s2000 after i drive my g35...
The smile s2000 brings to your face > all the other crap
and ^ should be the #1 reason why any one would buy s2k.

I was thinking the S2 was your weekend car or 2nd car, which would explain why you want a car to be on the sportier side and you wouldn't care about luxury features. With that thought, the OP will be using this ride as a primary vehicle/daily driver; thus, he would be concerned about luxury and if the car is comfortable.
Personally, I wouldn't want to drive my "play car" every single day of the week for my commute to work.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
I do think the S2 is a crap load of fun to drive though.

well yah most of the s2k owners have a 2nd car...
i guess i think differently from others...
i am still young... i should enjoy and have fun while i could....
i would not wanna drive a s2000 when i am 40, it s not really good for my health.

I am thinking to change them to non-runflat if I can find a place for spare LOL the runflats don't grip well, they are freaking expensive, and ride is a bit harsh...

Well i was thinking of just taking off the tires right away and store them till the lease is over. Then put them back on, that way i cant get charged for anything.
Plus i hate run-flats.
