What To Do - Used Car Extended Warranty SNAFU?
We bought a used 2005 V6 Mustang a couple of months ago. The car was listed as having an extended warranty that was transferable. The warranty was good until ~May 2012 or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first. Car currently has ~75,000 miles on it.
The seller offered to pay the $75 warranty transfer fee. We completed the transfer paperwork at the same time we completed the sale.
After about 6 weeks, I found out that the warranty company declined the transfer on grounds that maint was not done by an ASE mechanic and/or DIY maint was not properly documented.
I believe (and have reason to believe) that the seller has/had good intentions and that basic maint has been performed, even if not fully documented to satisfy the warranty company.
The seller has offered a couple of possible options:
1.) Sell the remainder of the warranty back to the warranty company, pro-rated, and refund me that amount
or
2.) If an issue should arise, to provide me the warranty card and/or take the car in himself - to the mechanic of my choosing - to complete any covered repair.
The car is currently exhibiting an intermittent condition where the AC blower shuts off. Seems random. Could be relativley minor or could be a more significant electrical system issue.
What should I do?
