What brand of oil filter do you use?

Whether it be for synthetic oil, or conventional oil, what brand and model of oil filters do you use, and why?

Whats the benefit of having an oversized filter? Better flow?

Its old school mentality, (i) you can never have too much filtration and (ii) it holds more oil, so it has to be better. On modern vehicles it won't do any harm, with in reason, but is not necessary.

I just did my first oil change the other day and ended up using a Bosch, not my first choice, but it was the best choice of what they had and I am not one of those oil change nuts, I just don't want to have a leak.

I always prefer Wix for anything, but this time I also used a Bosch like Timmy did, mainly because it was the best choice.

Pennzoil Platinum ftw

You mean Royal Purple, but they don't make a filter, only oil.

Using a synthetic oil I would go 10k-12k miles between oil changes, so figured the larger filter would be more efficient and provide better filtration over the longer intervals then a "regular" sized filter...

Mobil one for the oil and filter. If I can't get the Mobil 1 filter I use a K&N Gold.

I really think 1)Mobil One 2) Amsoil 3)Royal Purple should be on this poll as individuals to give more detailed results.

I have a buddy who races Late mods. if you know dirt track racing hell on oil. not only dirt flying around the engine bay but also high revs on a 1/2 mile track. He's ran a wide variety in Chevy small black stroker engine. he's ran Royal Purple he tore his engine down after about 5 weekends to check wear(he had Royal Purple in it). He said Royal Purple vs Mobil One there was hardly any difference. He runs now Mobil One just cause it's easier to get plus cheaper. you can get Mobil one at any part place or Wal-Mart.

I've found that you can now get 5w20 in the 5 quart jug now. It actually says "honda/acura" on the bottle.

I'd bet it has something to do with the requirement of Mobil 1 in the RDX. I'm just psyched because it saves a bit over buying 5 single quarts. Everycounts.

In Toronto, the only choices I've seen for oil filters, are Motomaster, Quakerstate, Purolator, Napa, Fram, and Pennzoil. I didn't even know Mobil1 made filters until this thread/poll.

We need better auto parts stores. The only (well known) ones we have in Toronto and Greater Toronto Area is Canadian Tire, Partsource (owned by Canadian Tire, so same merchandise), and Napa Auto Parts.

NAPA Gold filter with Mobil 1 synthetic.

NAPA because it's well rated. Mobil1 since I can get them in bulk at Costco.

Mobil1 when I had my TL-S.

Currently, OEM filter since I went to the dealership to get something fixed under warranty for my G and got my oil changed since it was up on the lift.

On my car I use Mobil 1 synthetic for both the oil and filter. For the other cars I use whatever is on sale.

It sucks but is true, just stick with OEM or purolator/ Napa Golds.

I just realized this was a poll on the filter only I some how visualized the word "and" in there. So I have to retract Royal Purple as they don't make filters.

I know you can get filters from Amsoil, but I thought they were made by some one else but it's been a while since I looked into Amsoil and had their catalog.

Where can you find Purolator PureOne filters in GTA? I know Oil Changers carries Purolator, but I think it's the basic ones... not the PureOnes.

To be honest I don't know, I just use OEM cause I get them cheaper than anything else. I'll keep an eye out but I would recommend calling Napa or Carquest.
