What is better/safter: wheel adapters or wheel spacers ??

Hey guys

I need to get either wheel adapters (1 inch) or wheel spacers (25mm) for my 2005 Acura TL 6MT, for the front wheels. (Stupid me buying high offset rims when I have brembo brakes).

Anyways I'm just wondering what would be better/safter to go. Oh and with the spacers the shop said they would have to install new and longer studs. (H&R spacers)

Thanks in advance!

Neither, preferably. Hopefully you get some quality wheel spacers or adapters, because either way your offset is going to be off and that's no good. And YES you want longer studs, good thing the shop said that. If you drive your car hard whatsoever - drag racing or cornering hard - you risk snapping off the factory studs right off. It may not break a stud right away, but it will become weaker over time and can eventually just fall off.

If it were me, I'd just sell the wheels and get another set that fit without problems, and in an offset that was ideal for my car.

Sell the wheels and get your offset that you desire.

I have a set of Eibach pro-spacers on another car of mine. They have been on for 3 years with no problems. The spacers bolt to your existing studs and the spacer itself has studs mounted into them. I know several who are running them with no issues. H&R also makes them.

Several people on the g35 forums run spacers on the OEM wheels with no problem. Obviously it would be smarter to get wheels w/ the correct offset, but going w/ spacers is an acceptable route.

And as for the "extended" studs, the reason he mentioned that is because there are two types of spacers you can buy. One of which doesn't come w/ built-in studs, rather has extended studs that you have to bolt onto the hub. These APPARENTLY are safer, but are a bigger pain in the ass to install, and are much more expensive for labor. The other type of spacer has built-in studs, which is EXTREMELY easy to install, and much cheaper for labor if you don't do it yourself (which you should since it's so damn easy). Most people opt for the built-in studs, and ALSO make sure you get a set that either is already hub-centric, or buy hub-centric rings for them. Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna go find myself a set that has the built-in studs, that already hub-centric.

I'm looking on the h&r springs site, and I think the one I'm suppose to get are the DRM SERIES?

My friend runs spacers up front to clear the brembos on his evo and tracks the car HARD....I doubt the TL will see anything remotely close to what he does to the car, so you should be fine

Putting a full 25 mm of spacer each side on a heavy FWD car would make me very nervous. Ask around and see if anyone else has done it and what it did to the handling.

Their 3pc 19" Work vs-kf with a 45 offset. Honestly not stunning wheels, but I love them for the fact that I worked my ass off for them
