What is the best company to ship a car cross-country?

Co-worker is moving from WI to FL and needs his S4 shipped. He is coming up with a few quotes higher than he thinks it should be. For those of you who have shipped a car cross-country who did you use and ball-park price?

Thanks in advance!

I have used uShip.com many, many times with no problems. It's basically like eBay for shipping where you put up what you need to be shipped, and you receive quotes.

I've shipped everything from cars, trucks, racing karts, motorcycles, trailers, you name it.... both as the shipper and the recipient... never had an issue.

UShip may charge a 'finder's fee' as it did in my case. I contacted some of the companies outside of uShip and saved a good 20% just FYI.

^ Wow really? Wonder if that's a new thing. Haven't shipped anything since last year but it was always free...

Yup! I took everyone's advice last year and checked out uShip and was quoted like 1100 or so. Called Ultra directly, talked to a guy named Ruben and he quoted ~900.

YMMV I guess

^ Well that makes sense as the shipping companies pay a fee to be a part of the uShip community... so not surprising that they elevate their prices a bit to off-set that. But it should be free for the "user" to use uShip as in uShip doesn't charge any fees to the regular members/users.

I've done the call outside of uShip thing as well and was offered lower fees, but I liked having uShip behind me... especially with the way their payments work (shipper is not paid until you are 100% satisfied), so I always went through uShip to make sure i was covered.

Do not ship with dependable auto shipper. Shipped my car from WV to CA. It was a month over due. Came back and it was all dusty inside, scratches on the body, and bent radio antenna

Yes, sorry to confuse people. uShip itself is free to use.

I plan on moving and shipping my car next Spring. uShip quotes me $747-$1387 which I see as very fair. Even though my Acura is 10 years old, I have a lot of irreplaceable parts and a few of my friends have had bad experiences. I am not sure which company they used but one friend had both side mirrors stolen and another had a blown out rear window. I think they spent ($500) almost 10 years ago. You get what you pay for.

Fly me there & home, and I'll get it to you Minimal hooliganism & break in runs guaranteed. Assuming this is still the AMG vert?

I always fly and buy. However, the mileage is so low on it, want it pristine. Yes its a vert. 7,100 miles

It is a woman's car. Won't fit a real F150 driving man like yourself, from Texas
