So the night before the dragon trip I finally got around to getting my Aeroforce gauge and seperate A/F sensor installed for monitoring purposes. The install is not that bad. The two biggest pains are gettint the wires to the engine compartment and getting the dash controlls back in with the wires connected to the guage and not having them come undone.

Was surprised at home much room there was behind the dash. Lots of open pockets of space to stash things.


So many screws to take off just to get the clock out. The Aeroforce gauge fits in so tight it is crazy. It is like the engineers at GM purposely designed this spot for a gauge and specifically this one. Pretty insane if it is really just a coincidence.


Took some single wire black and red 16 gauge wire and put them in a vise and attached the other end to a drill and made some twisted power wire. This is typically how I do power wires when I am running them for something in a car. Some flex wrap and heat shrink to keep it all together.






Power wire run off a spare switched fuse slot in the engine bay fuse box.


All back together like it was meant to be there.

Sadly I did not go through the firewall. After reading numorous threads on ctsv forum I did what I hate doing honestly. I went through the fender and through an extra grommet in the passenger door hinge. It wasn't my first choice but supposedly the CTSV has some weird double firewall with a gap between the two so getting through it is said to be extremely difficult and to be honest looking under the dash I could not find any usable existing grommets to do so like I have done on past cars.

I do actually miss the look of the clock a bit and still have thoughts of putting it in the lower cubby. That said it is nice to have the information on the gauge fairly close to eye level.
I don't but I can grab a few later today. The cable comes out a grommet in the door jam and then there is a nice seal piece between the fender and the door that it goes in between which has a rubber seal as well. Once in the fender with the fender liner and all that it should be very well shielded from anything. Doesn't seem like anyway it could get pinched in the door either.


With my Pixel 2 always on screen on a magnet cd slot mount I always have a clock. Plus I typically always wear a watch as well.

Closeup of where it enters the grommet. Still want to try and find a clean way to try and seal this up a little more but I can imagine a lot of water would ever enter either way. Technically you could just run the sensor wire through here and run power to the battery in the trunk. However since I was already bringing one cable from the engine bay I figured I might as well do both and make it easier.


Cable run inside the fender. Not really any place you can tie it down. I guess it will get wet since that vent is actually open but the wire is shielded and away from the actual tire so don't think it is an issue.

So while taking some friends on a spirited run in the wagon on Friday I heard and interesting noise and look in my rear view mirror and see some black plastic chunks flying out behind me.

Just a general PSA check the plastic clips on your under panel every once and a while. Apparently mine had either broken or fell out or something cause my entire front bumper under panel just ripped out from under the car at terminal volcity and broken into several pieces. I got off the highway and went back to look for them. I found 4 of them thankfully.

I would have just bought a new panel but in the mean time I would still need some protection as with this panel missing there is nothing to project the supercharger aftercooling pump and hose lines.

So first thing Sunday morning it was time for some plastic sewing in the garage. A drill, a couple zip ties, and some time later things were back together.

Don't have a picture of the 4 piecs. This was just after I started.


Just a few zip ties were needed for this repair




Mounted back under the car with 8 zip ties and the one and only bolt that was left from the original mounting hardware.

Anyways, I'm "at the track" doing 120 when I hear a violent shudder then I see my hood buckle like it's going to pop open
It rippled left to right like crazy.

I shut her down to cruising speed.. like wtf. Shit was mad sketchy.
Pull over and see the whole driver side shield ripped away. Couldn't find it.
Anyways, it's like $20. Or you can spend $20 on zip ties and make it look cool like Jason

where to get $20 splash shield? my passenger side is destroyed from the previous owner hitting a curb and cracking the plastic splitter on that side along with the clips on the bottom of the bumper and parts of the splash shield... the splash shield is currently held in with zippies...
