Washing hands after pumping gas?

I was curious do you guys wash your hands after pumping gas into your car?

I use to always use Purell right after pumping gas into my car before I touched anything else, as I always thought the gas pump had a ton of germs. Yesterday, I didn't have any Purell left in my car after filling up, and said the hell with it. Then I began to think...What's the real point? It's not like everyone else who touched the gas pump didn't touch the door to the inside store, an ATM machine, a restaurant menu, etc. It almost seems pointless to wash your hands right after pumping gas (a lot of people do this), unless you actually have gas on your hands.

How do you guys feel about this?

I typically always wash my hands either with soap/water or purell before eating anything with my hands. I see tons of people who do NOT do this, and to me it just seems pretty disgusting. I don't see how you can sit down and have a slice of pizza without getting all the random germs off your hands?

No. I generally just wash my hands in the shower and usually before I take my contacts out.

I've never thought about this before. I usually stare at the price of gas, prepay, pump and get back in the car, drive off, and think about other stuff during the day. But of course I will if I'm going to eat something.

Now back when I was in high school (senior) and gas it the $3.50 mark I really started to think about cutting out other expenses. Pumping gas and making life decisions at the pump. That was the past. I've grown accustom to expensive gas for the most part.

Think about it....

Guy goes into the station to drop deuce. Doesn't wash hands or does a $hitty job of washing his hands.

Guy then goes to the pump and gets poo germs/bacteria all over the handle. You come in right behind him and hold the nozzle. BAM!!! poo infested hands.

not a bad idea to use an antibacterial after using the gas pump nozzle. However, I never sterilize my hands after I pump gas. Go figure.

People are such wimps nowadays. I work on my car all day and eat a bag of potato chips with my hands still greasy.

I never get sick and haven't used any prescription drugs or antibiotics in the last 15 years.

People just don't understand that using purrell and always taking antibiotics etc whenever you get sick just weakens your immune system and makes the viruses stronger. It will lead to the end of mankind if something else doesn't first.

Same. I work in a heavy-duty mechanic shop and a lot of the times I leave for lunch without properly washing my hands (usually just brake-kleen the grease/dirt off) and eat without even thinking about it. I've always known that if you don't expose your body to germs you're way more prone to sickness. After using the washroom I always wash my hands, but throughout my every day life I rarely do.

If the gas dispenser handle is dirty or has fuel on it, I use a wet wipe afterwards (I keep several individually packaged Wet Ones in the glove compartment).

Otherwise, I wash my hands after arriving at the next destination.

Why don't we wash our hands before taking a piss? I mean, think about it. You walk around all day touching shit that everyone else touches, walk into the bathroom, go straight to handling your Johnson, and THEN wash your hands. I think our priorities are out of order.

I tell girls to shower before sex and make sure they scrub that pussy clean. Dunno why they get offended.

Girls wash their hands then stick dirty dicks in their mouths.

I rarely eat food in my car anyways so that's not really a problem. When would you wash your hands at the pump? After handling the pump, but before touching your dirty door handle?

after i'm done filling up, i usually put my hands over the trashcan by the pump and squeeze out another 1/2 gallon or so all over my hands, then air dry.

i've gotten many a free hot dog this way too, so there's that.

BTW, when you are in health care like I am, I DO wash my hands before and after I go to the bathroom. You just never know what crap people carry with them into the office. I saw a guy in the hospital just this morning who had bed bugs on him (sidebar: EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. , poor guy ). You can bet we were covering up shoes, head, hands, clothes.

Not paranoia, just VRE, MRSA, MDRE avoidance.

Of course, it probably doesn't matter, I'm likely already contaminated anyway.

Oh, :nb4move2ramblings:

Exactly! This is why I always wash my hands before taking a piss. I don't wash my hands after pumping gas though. I do interact and shake many peoples hands everyday though and wash my hands at least 15 times a day.

I used to not eat food if it accidentally touched the nurse's station. At some point I said eff it, and I've stopped caring ever since.

Why bother. You have already stewed in the germs for however long it takes you to get to where you are going. Not to mention the next time you get in the car they are still in there from your last commute.
