Warped rotor.... warranty??

My wife's 2007 Tahoe feels like it may have a very slightly warped brake rotor.
The car has 27k and is driven by her mostly. She is very easy on the brakes and drives mostly highway. I doubt the truck needs pads yet. Are warped rotors usually considered a warranty item?

That seems unusually early, even if it is a large vehicle. I would search around and see if this is a common issue and if so, request that it be done under warranty as a re-occuring problem across their product line. Otherwise, you may be at their mercy as it is likely considered wear and tear of the vehicle.
At the very least, they should be able to re-surface the rotors for a nominal fee.

Good luck!

i consider that a wear item. Your dealer may cover it as a courtesy, but i would ask just in case. But i would say

Exactly what I was going to say. You can argue till you're blue in the face that your wife is easy on the brakes, but there is no way for them to prove it. It can't hurt to ask your service adviser but I would not hold your breath as rotors are wear items.

Does she periodically go through the drive-through car washes? Cold water hitting a hot rotor will potentially cause warping.

Be extemely nice to the service advisor and they may goodwill it.

Do most dealers have the capability to turn rotors on site? If so wouldn't that be just a labor cost type thing and be more likely to get comped than a part replacement.

You might be a lot luckier than we were, at 13100 miles, our Honda dealership charged us 600$ for warped rotors.

And the dealer "might" be nice enough to do it, but it really is a rear item. I say take it to a small shop that will turn them for about $50. Also, get new pads. Won't hurt and she'll stop a lot better.

or

On the side of bad rotors, Volvo had a problem with their OE Brembos, and I had to replace them on my old V70. I think GM uses a Delphi sourced rotor. I'd also look at an aftermarket rotor, as they should be pretty cheap.

Mine do.
They had to turn mine once.

WTH, how did the rotors warp after 13K miles? What car was this on?

The rotors on my CL-S warped at 17K, but Acura serviced them and gave me new pads because a TSB was out for that exact problem. Could it have been that a TSB came out for what you experienced after the fact? If that's the case, the shop owes you some money back.

08 Odyssey. My wife is smooth on the brakes too. And I know there was no TSB on it because I sure as hell checked before going. Not to mention, there was another customer with his 08 Pilot that had the same issues. To resurface them, it would have been around 300 but we were told 600 for new ones. The wifey really didn't feel safe driving around on the hwy because it shook a lot whilst braking, so she just went ahead and did it.

Dang, that sucks. Was $600 just the price of the rotors or did that include labor?

My parents odyssey (an '05) had brake issues, but those were the fault of my brother because he can't drive worth

I hope it included a lubricated condom too since they bent him over...

Seriously though... that's bad. I would have definitely taken the car to an independent shop if the dealer quoted me that much...

at the least, if it's convenient, find an online shop to buy the OEM rotor's for cheap too.

That price included both parts and labor. I called Honda of NA about a month ago to complain and today they returned my call. Tomorrow I'll drop by the dealership to see if justice can be served.

only if your Tahoe is a bmw. sometimes a dealer will do it as a "goodwill" gesture if it happened during the first yr or 12k but after that you're on your own
