I love how in classic MM fashion, the dude hijacks OP's thread for his own pipe dream

From what I've gathered and what I hope is that the V6T specific platform is very low maintenance
in comparison to other VAG platforms...
major stuff at least, not talking about little annoyances and things you need to replace.
my buddy has one. It's a money pit...and it only has 65k on it.listen, I have had 2 Audis..have one now...but they are way more to service than Japanese Cars.

I know someone who actually would rather have an Impala over an ES350 because "it's cheaper to repair/maintain"...

My dad had an Impala Limited (overrun of the last gen, LTZ only, and fleet sales only IIRC) and it was a decent car for a DD. Same 3.6 V6 as the Camaro & a lot quicker than you'd expect. I think it was on par with the earlier V8 Impala SS, without the wicked torque steer.

my ex had the 3.6 in her SRX and it did it's thing...
nowadays, almost all newer cars are decent!

What I meant was...and off the top of my head...
O2 sensor on the Yukon...like $30...window actuator $70...oil pressure sensor...$30...
it almost felt like there's a price typo on the parts after having Jap and German

True.

The crazy comparo was between most Jap & Nissan

When I had my 2G TL, I had a coworker with an 07 Sentra. He needed a window motor or regulator, told him to get the part & I'd help him R&R.
Looked up pricing. TL was something like $90, Sentra was $275

I had a 2018 4 Cylinder Impala as rental few weeks ago... POS... looked decent tho...

But it did not feel like it had 197 hp... more like 150hp...

I just googled it... it had the LED bar so it costs at least 31k min..... WTF....

My dad's was the prior gen. V6 was the only option. Can't imagine a GM 4cyl in a big body like that.

My dad has the v6 Impala. It's a dumpster fire. The blind spot monitoring doesn't actually work, the gas pedal causes the car to whine and not actually go any faster.

Piece of junk. The 4 cylinder sound horrible.

My friend has beat a 4G TL in a 3.6 2013 Impala LTZ the other week!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I would love an ISF or Civic Type R but those are probably out of my price range, I think the IS350 is exactly what I want...

in my price range, great looks, nice power, great handling, made in Japan and reliable.

$25K will get you into an ISF. AutoTrader right now has 23 listed under $27,000.

They are bullet-proof & major service is pretty sparse, but that's ultimately it; you need to be prepared to keep up with it when service time comes. They are fantastic cars though. I've got 5 co-workers who have picked one up in the last year and I have a feeling they will become a cult classic type of car that goes up slowly.

Yea it seems like they go for 25-30k..

interesting that IS350’s are still pretty expensive, I guess that says something about the quality..

what if I went back to a 06/07 350 with low miles for 10-12k? Worth it still?

Also how about a new IS300? Obviously less horsepower but they still look good..
