Waldorf's Volkswagen (Hyundai/Kia FTW!) Golf GTI Thread

I never understood why people would buy this car. Honestly, do you like the design? Its Boxy, and ugly. I respect the performance, but the design is so Ugly.
Just imagine if this car was from KIA. Everyone would say this car is ugly then.....
So my question to the OP is, do you really like the design, or did you buy from the performance standpoint? Thanks..

Chip that thing. I have a GIAC flash on my TT 2.0T DSG, 245hp/285lbft of torque is money on an otherwise stock car. If you don't modulate the throttle right you can spin the tires through the TOP of second.
Only thing is you may have the new TSI engine which tuners haven't cracked yet but have been showing up randomly on lots for the last few months. The TSI has a proper airbox while the older TFSI (BPY) has the air filter integrated into the engine cover.

Why the GTI? Why not?
Seriously now. I loved the MINI...still do.
I needed a little more room than what the MINI had in terms of cargo etc.
I wanted something similar (not a Clubman) and the GTI has been "calling to me" for while.
So, took it for a spin.....loved the 2.0T....power in any gear...anywhere.
Damn I love those plaid seats. They look even better in person.
Why DSG? I'm a manual guy....loved the manual in the cooper...hated the CL-S slush box......so when I went for a testdrive a while back, I drove a DSG....and let me just say it is even better than I imagined! For lack of a better term, the DSG sold itself on me. The shifts are instant!
I was however lookin at an A4....almost pulled the trigger recently on one.
...but I had to drive the GTI to compare it against the A4...to see if the A4 was what I wanted. Turns I liked the GTI better...no slight to the A4, but I felt the GTI was closer in the handling department to the MINI than the A4.
Did I launch control yet? Yes and No......not on my car, but I did on the test drive of another

I'm curious to know how much less does the GTI weigh compared to the A4?
I can't wait to hear how your car is after it's broken in. I'm waiting for mine to be broken in as well, but I'm slowly bring it up, driving it a little faster and faster on the freeway from when I first got it. I'm at about 600 miles on the odometer now, still got a ways to go to break it in. How many miles are you gonna wait till you have fun with it?

I haven't driven my Avant much yet, but because I've driven it to work a few times and had to pick up my Mom from LAX, that got me up there quick otherwise I'd still probably be around 300 now since all the other times I've taken it were for short trips around town.
It's a car, it's meant to be driven, I'm not gonna baby it too much. Let the modding begin!

Now if you said volvo was boxy I'd agree, although they have gotten better about that over the years.

What fragrance would you like sir: Vanilla, Pine, New Car, Crayola?
No, it does not smell like a box of crayons.
It smells like your typical "new car" smell (of toxic chemical compounds that will give you cancer)
