VW pricing

Anyone try buyng a VW lately? You know in todays market 1-2 grand off a small car isnt too hard with rebates and discounts. I figured why not try to work a deal for a new Rabbit in auto? Best I could do at 2 places was 1 grand off msrp. I need a automatic car pretty quick, .

I need more than that to lure in me. Who else is having a bitch of a time at VW dealers. I know they do do rebates but come on everyone needs help! I'm not trying to buy a rare car here.

It would help if you said which model you were looking to buy.

OP: Try emailing multiple dealers for the best price.

If you walk into the dealer cold...a grand is about the best you are going to do.

^ Oh yeah, we're going to send out mass email to different VW dealerships in our area later today. My friend now realized that he'd be better of purchasing a brand new GTI with 25k.. so..

I'll send you PM when we get some responses from dealerships, so you can check them out before we actually go purchase it.

It is a good idea to just send out emails first right?

^ Yes, and make sure that they can see the other dealer's e-mail addresses in the to field. Lets them know that they are going to have to compete for your business.

I went and did research at the biggest rabbit forum site and 1 grand off any 2 door/4door model with whatever option package is damm good. I didnt believe the msrp/invoice sheet the dealers showed me. However when I went to the forum site, a lot of people said Rabbits have pretty much nothing in profit in them and 1 grand off is a really good deal.

They were saying VW takes a loss on Rabbits, you know to get people into the VW brand cheaply.

Not too much difference between used and new at autotrader.com in used rabbits. they hold hell of good resale.

I don't know where you are and I know you said you wanted auto but look what I saw. I don't know what your budget is but for 15 000 a "brand new" rabbit is a good deal IMO

Did you email multiple dealers to get them to fight it out amongst themselves for the best price?

They def dont take a loss but their profit is under 1000 on each car. Ive heard as low as 280, the rabbit is a volume car. Ive had two, went from a 4 dr auto to a 2 door 5spd, and no major issues. My current one rattles like hell but thats due to my coilovers which are oh so stiff! And the aftermarket is still gaining momentum, its an exciting time for rabbit owners right now (those who have money at least ). If you're looking for power, look elsewhere unless you wanna drop 6k for a 300hp+ turbo kit. But if you think about it, 170hp is not bad for a factory low CR engine in a 16k car, besides, w/ simple bolt ons 200+tq to the wheels is very doable. As far as pricing, the best thing you can do is spend a day touring the dealers around you and see how low you can go. Dont be scared to low ball, dealers have no souls

if you dont want a GTI or GLI, you can probably score a great deal on a vw these days.

a rabbit with all the tricks can probably still have a good chunk lopped off
