Adam, our Mini S is an excellent little car. Great gas mileage, and very, very tossable. The ride is a bit rough w/ the sports package, but IMHO its a reasonable tradeoff for the handling prowess.

Somebody else had mentioned the Turbo Neon to me but I just cannot fathom spending money on a car from Chrysler .I still have a bad taste in my mouth from a new Chrysler I owned long ago .I am sure Chrysler has gotten better but my experience with them has cured me of any need to buy again .
Mini Coopers ? I can really do without the whole trendy retro thing, besides fully equipped that is one expensive little shoebox .Besides every time I see one I am half expecting a bunch of circus clowns to pop out of it .

Adam,

I would suggest that you think about Jens experience. Take the 3000 and use that to upgrade it. I had a Wolfsberg edition and it cost more and I really didn't get squat for it.

Banish the thought, but you might consider buying used and then using the saved money to buy food or more mods...

Finally, I drive the CLS 40 miles interstate each way and get 330-380 miles regularly on a tank...but then again, I'm a bit more "experienced" than you.

VW has less plastic than Acura...much better interiors too IMHO. My audi blows my CL away.

Yep, they are. Look on the frame rails of the seat. Might have to remove to see, but it stamped recaro.

just my .02 ... i would agree that it looks hot though!
i still say go drive a wrx.. yeah the interior leaves something to be desired but it is a fookin blast to drive!
My Audi with 5200 miles so far, since Feb, no mechanical problems.

Wrong! so very wrong.
He was right, you are wrong. The older ones had more problems than the newer ones.

Different gauges, 6 Spd manual on 20th, spoiler, 3 spoke leather steering wheel, monsoon system, sunroof, black headline, brakes, suspension, bodykit. lower ride height (inch and a half).

Soopa take a ride in the car ,this is about the only way to really decide anyway. The 20th anni car is about another 3 grand more .Seems steep for one more cog in the gearbox and some different trim.Lowering springs are cheap the extra gear won;t really make that much of a difference .The 20th anni car won;t be worth more in the long run it is just way to raise the revenues for VW.The R32 is pretty wild with the VR6 motor but it is significantly more dinero for the same size car .

Does back seat matter to you?? Cause you can find a nice 00 or 01 S2000 for around $20K... Awsome milage if you keep it out of Vtec, but the 240HP is there when you need it. The interior is awsome too. (I know that the wheather where you live kinda suck for a roadster, but in my opinion, its way more car for the money.

I getting one soon myself..

p.s. I for one am never buying a brand new car again... you loose a sh*t load of money as soon as you drive off the lot...

Yeah, but when you're talking about a $20k-$23k car.....you're not going to completely lose you shirt when its time to sell (just keep it nice).

The cheaper the car you get, the less you will lose on resale.

There is something to be said about a new car though.

Believe it or not, I'm probably going to get a 20th AE..going to look at one later.

Hey Soopa,

Have you checked out the new Scion xB's? I saw one at the Toyota dealership that was lowered with some 17's and it looked sweet. Also, they get good gas mileage, great handling, and are only like 12-13K.

Another choice is the Toyota Echo. I know everyone hates the looks but they can grow on you. I had an '03 rental for about a week and I almost fell in love with it. The gas mileage was awesome, the stereo was better than the CL-S, and the engine is quite peppy (0-60 in like 8 secs.) Anyways, I'm sure insurance would be cheap on it!

What ever happened to the idea of getting the S-60R? I was thinking about one as a second vehicle...
