VW Bug Parts?!??!
My buddy was driving down the highway yesterday going about 70mph in his 1970 VW Bug (incredible condition) when he hit a pothole. The shock on the one side blew through the shock tower. The shock tower basically has a giant jagged hole where the shock used to bolt in.
I have searched extensively and cannot find a replacement shock tower anywhere. Does anyone know some places to find replacement VW Bug parts online??
If he cannot find a replacement, how should he fix it? We were thinking about taking a big-ass washer and shaping it, then welding it to the remaining part of the tower.
Any sites or suggestions?

http://www.thesamba.com/ and post in the bug forum...
If it was a bus you were talking about, I might be able to help, but I don't know shit about bugs...
I do know that the 70 still has a front beam, so it isn't a strut setup like the super beetles have.
I'm thinking he needs the whole front beam, but like I said, I know very little about the bugs.
Does it look like this ??

here's a better picture of the Front Axle, 1966-1977, Standard Beetle
A new front beam is only a couple hundred bucks, but it's probably a major pain to install...
