Question VT sand the roads during winter?

Hi guys,

I found a truck for sale in Middlebury, VT which I'm interested in taking a look at. The problem is I live about 4 hrs away. It's a 1995 GMC. One of my primary concerns is rust. Does VT salt the hell out of the roads during the winter time? In MA, they sand the roads really bad so it's impossible to find a mid 90s truck without any rust.

How does sand make a car rust? I never heard of that-always thought it was salt that did that.

Nope, not the sand, it's the salt that they mix in with the sand...

Oh, and yeah, VT uses salt on the road... Since it's a rural area, they probably use twice the amount that we use in urbanized areas...

for states that use road salt, and states that salt roads brought up come interestings stuff. Articles about the economic costs due to corrosion suffered by auto owners, the effects on the enviroment, etc etc...

You're better off buying a truck from down south or out west... I'm not sure when Chevy/GMC started galvinzing their trucks, but I thought it was sometime in the 90's (late 90's??)...

Replacing rockers and cab corners can be fun tho'
