I'd probably look into the STI first and then test drive the TL and G35 after since I don't need a SUV.

It depends on a few things:

If you want all out sport, and few interior amenities: WRX

If you want a more refined coupe: G35

If you want a luxury sedan with a nice amount of sport with good fit and finish? TL

If you want a car that is "woman driver friendly": FX (it sits high like women like, has a modicum of utility, and is not a minivan).

Now, someone on this board (who will remain nameless) has a beast of one. But that doesn't count.

I would take the STI but the interior is not great if you care about those things

I think id prefer luxury over sport for now... until the price on the 08-11 sti's drop.

So I guess its really g35 vs tl.... and on this board, i already know im getting the TL.

lol, i really miss my 02 tl, and every time I see a 3rd gen tl drive by, Im like "time to sell my car!!!".

fyi, the FX from 03-05 didn't change much, but the 06's+ had a slight face-lift and interior drastically improved, I'd go for 06+ if you can

I liked the exterior of the old one better but the interior is MUCH better. Same thing with the QX.

I was wondering the same. Off the top of my head, the 06+ has thicker chrome trim on the bottom of the doors, chrome strip in the lower front valence, slightly different wheels, and smaller fog lights. The interior, as mentioned, is sooooo much better

I was mainly talking about the newest body style. I like the 06's.

Ahhh, there's the confusion. The 2003-2008 (think the new style started in '09) are all the same minus a slight refresh on the '06 exterior and newer interior.

Get the STI, look at it go

the only thing I'd be worry about used STi's is that most likely the previous owner drove the fuck out of it...

STi's can be wonderful. But look for low mileage (obviously), but look for mods. The less modifications, the better. It's tough to come by one that has not been beat up. But AWD fun awaits. You could also consider the 2008/09 Legacy.

Same AWD, similar engine (2.0L @ 265 HP, not 300) but can be modified to 300 easily, and the Legacy is more understated.

time.....

if you like luxury over sport at all, you're not gonna want an STI
they have no luxury whatsoever, the interiors are that of a 20k car, besides the seats obviously
i had an 06 WRX and my buddy had an 05 STI... the drivetrains are amazing, and the seats are very supportive, but that's the only things i can say about them. everything on the cars feels cheap, interior materials/layout were worse than my mom's 06 civic, ended up selling it because of that. I really like luxury, so it wasn't the car for me.
But they are very well built, mine had about 110k miles on it, and it ran beautifully, even in -40 degree weather, and i would think that that car would've ran for about 200k-300k miles as long as it was maintained properly

and g35 vs tl, do you like the feeling of fwd or rwd?
that's one of the things that keeps me away from most of the acura cars

Yea, im worried that any sti I get would have been drivin to hell and back already, and i also like luxury interior over sport... Only thing is I want AWD .

That girl comment pretty much got me away from the FX35.

So now its G35 vs TL. I think im going to end up in the tl, just on looks and reliability...

only thing is im working with a 15,000-20,000 budget... Private sale ftw I guess.

Thanks for all the input. Feel free to keep it coming.

Yes, the LGT is a 2.5L. Over here, they were 2.0L EJ20 motors.

And a Legacy GT with a simple Cobb Access port tune will get you 300 HP. And they can be had with leather and some small luxury items. Not in the same league as BMW/Audi/MB or even Infiniti or Lexus.

But the aftermarket for the car is pretty good, you can wring out power pretty easily (in the 2.5 GT only, my 3.0 is hell on aftermarket), and it's very understated. 2008/2009 would be the models to look for. You might even find them coming off lease.

The 09 base WRX got an upgraded turbo so it's 2.5L 265 HP and puts down 0-60 a little faster than the STi since it doesn't need to shift to 3rd and 1/4 mile in about the same. They can be had for 20K if not the premium model.

I'd go for the G35 coupe or G35x if you want AWD. That exhaust note and interior layout is awesome. STi and Evo have nothing on luxury; it's all out sport and then some more! Test drove a new '07 STi and '08 Evo and gosh, I think my kidneys got misplaced somewhere in my abdomen. They're loud, harsh ride, cheap cheap interior, lack of options, and too boy racer! The TL is okay but too common; every one has one and they all look alike! Too boring! FX....nah...looks like a tadpole! No trunk space at all for an SUV.
