Well I have no idea then. The N80 is definitely not a fuel line check valve though. The only explanation I have for your situation is that the valve was stuck closed and increasing the amount of time to build pressure and also not pumping fumes into the fuel rail at start up.
Had some time on Saturday / Monday to work on the ETH FO and fixed my pestering voltage issue.

A word of advice from an idiot: Don't throw parts at an issue because you have a "hunch". Had I done a bit more troubleshooting & tried cheaper options, I would have fixed my voltage issue for $4 dollars in less than 10 minutes of work versus the 3 1/2 hours & $60 spent on swapping in a used / working OEM Alternator.
Long story short - ever since I pulled my motor back in October, my car's electrical system has been weak. With the car started and the alternator churning, you should be seeing between 13.5v-14v. Under battery power, 12v.
I would notice that when I first started the car, it would be at around 14v but as I started packing on the accessories like AC / headlights / heated seats, the voltage would drop just at about 12.5v, sometimes even lower under full throttle. It was not enough to trip the battery light and just enough to charge the battery.
Stumped, I cleaned both terminals / I cleaned & verified all of my grounds were tight (Main ground goes from the negative on the battery terminal to the body, other primary ground goes from the framerail to the bottom motormount bracket, and there are another 2 that connect on the secondary firewall / inside of the cabin)
My battery is less than 6 months old, so I figured my 135,000 mile alternator was the issue.
Wrong.
One of my factory grounds must have failed to the point where voltage was dissipating / escaping.
I went to Home Depot and picked up some 8 gauge wire. I ran it from the primary framerail ground connection to a bolt holding on the larger upper motormount bracket against the block and voila, voltage has stabilized.
So pissed ... yet so happy
I also washed her up and detailed the interior.
No updates as of new files / revisions ... hopefully soon.

Minus the fleshlight, I do the same. exact. thing.
In this case, all that thinking lead me to swapping the alternator when the grounding was in fact the issue all along.
It's possible - funny you mention that because .. I noticed that the S4 was starting a lot more quickly / consistently now that the electrical system is basically on viagra now.
I noticed the Yukon had a little rust so ... corroded / weak grounds make for a weak electrical system. Fairly certain 13.5v-14v is the target voltage for most cars so, grab your multi-meter and measure what your voltage is at the positive terminal while the car is on.
These cars are never ending projects ... just once you have one thing fixed you discover something else that needs refreshing
I've been running on a busted CV boot for a few months but finally got it rebuilt with the help of a friend. What a messy job... my only goal was not tracking in any kind of axle grease into the house .. that's for sure

Funny thing was, I didn't get any other pictures because my hands were so dirty ... lol.
Following that, I picked up my R8 ignition coil conversion .. huge upgrade as power levels start to increase. I noticed my AFR lean up a bit because all fuel coming from the injectors was being used
After the ignition system upgrade, I spent about 2 hours sending logs & receiving revisions. Car is definitely faster .. I would say I have around 3-4 more files until 91 octane is completed and we move to doing a whole other e85 tune.
It's def pulling hard at those speeds. It's going to be a monster on e85!
A fully custom tune done remotely can be kind of frustrating ...
Good news is .. I got 4 different revisions on the car this weekend - but it took anywhere from a 1 hour response, to 12 hours to get a revised file once I submit my logs. Southern California isn't exactly known for having wide open freeways so I have a designated area to do a full 3rd / partial 4th gear pull.
First world problems but, I have a feeling it's going to take at least another week or two before E85 is really a possibility.
A fully custom tune done remotely can be kind of frustrating ...

That's a pretty quick turn around for revisions. When I was tuning the FoST, it would take approx a week to get a revision back from my tuner. I live in a good area where I can get some 3rd gear pulls in. 4th gear pulls are a little tough due to the speeds needed to reach redline.

You better keep that thing for a long time because you know you aint getting that $$ back if you sell it.
Agreed. At this point, I don't plan on selling the car in the near future.

Maybe it's a combination of being a bit impatient / lack of communication from my tuner.
At the end of the day, I'm happy the car is getting done

I COULD go to the freeway and do logs but the risk of getting a ticket is high ... plus, I got a ticket about 6 months ago so .. I'd like my insurance rates to stay the same right now .
Despite being about 20 minutes away, the road I am doing logs on is great. It's a 4 lane road, no side streets, 1 mile straight, and a median separating oncoming traffic.
I mean, I'm probably stating the obvious but the faster you go the harder you are to catch by the cops.
I bet once you get the E85 you can do all the pulls you want without much worry.
Haven't had a ton of updates, but some subtle changes here and there.
Finally got myself an OEM RS4 grill ... sooo much better than my eBay one.
Random shot a month or so back:
Buffed and sealed my headlights & exterior door trim - they were beginning to look a bit oxidized.
4th of July morning cruise: (S4 badge added on RS4 grill)
So, after a few logs it revealed that my intake air temperatures were almost in the 65-70c range. If there's anything a turbocharged car DOESN'T like, it's hot air.
I had to improvise.
2 pieces of sheet metal & some gold reflective tape later, I cut my IATs down almost 20C at WOT after a few consecutive pulls.
Logs this morning indicated I am pulling 48c IATs at redline - this is roughly 7C hotter than the $500+ intake system 034 makes.
Could be better, but it'll do (for now).
Funny story about my ignition upgrade.
Once I reset my battery (which clears your fuel trims), the tune did not like the new ignition system ... at all. My AFRs leaned up quite a bit and we essentially needed to re-tune the car. I started that process this week ... slowly but surely

Well, the time has come. Been waiting for 7 months to get the car to this point!
I got my first E85 base tune a few days ago. I plan on flashing it tonight at the pump and going through the small bit of mixed 91 still left in there.
I’m expecting a solid whp & torque increase.
As promised, I’ll grab videos once the car is healthy enough to take a beating.

Even with a few gallons of 91 in the tank, AFR is bang on and fuel trims are pretty much right where they should be so I cant imagine the tune will take more than 2-3 files.
