The sticker that is peeling off? The sticker that allows that icon underneath to continue to mock you, because you know it's still there?

Peeling off? It's holding quite nicely thankyouverymuch

Had some remote coding done on the M5 on Friday; added the following features:

- Unlock doors when engine is turned off
- Auto Start/Stop default to off
- Close tailgate with key and inside cabin button
- Enable DVDinMotion
- Removal of iDrive Disclaimer
- Digital Tire Display (Pressure and Temperature)
- Enable anti-dazzle feature (Euro)

Rolling computers are definitely hackable.

rockstar143 07-28-2019 08:22 AM

That's so cool!
We have that too in the Audi but it's through the OBDEleven app and Dongle.

I have heard the anti-dazzle is the best thing ever! Too bad i am too lazy to do it...
Let me know how it is..

Aman 07-29-2019 01:11 PM

Is anti-dazzle code for auto-dimming?

oonowindoo 07-29-2019 01:21 PM

Nope...

Can you believe this has been around in EU since 2012 and US still does not allow it?

civicdrivr 07-29-2019 04:16 PM

VW has something similar with the LED headlights on the MK7.5. I'd love to get my hands on a set - rumor the coding is possible with the existing modules.

rockstar143 07-30-2019 06:12 AM

That's awesome...can we bill the oncoming traffic for the feature.

With as many people I see driving with their high beams on (and about as many with no headlights at all :what:) this would be amazing.

Every time i drive to Vegas, you will be amazed how many night riders i see on the road... They either have some night vision goggle or some shit cuz it is usually pitch black.
I partially blame the back lit gauge cluster tho. The gauge should NOT be lit unless you turn on the headlight, like the old times.

Or cars with really bright DRLs, so you can actually see where you're going, but you're invisible from behind.

This is super cool. Had no idea this existed. Leave it to the US government not to allow something helpful

srs? I use the auto high beam function all the time, but this is next level stuff.

Took a road trip with the M5. Backdrop includes Sedona, the Navajo Nation, Zion National Park, Dixie National Forest, and the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway. The car was awesome! Over 30 hours of driving covering 1,728 miles.

we took that trip last year in a convertible mustang...
missed the salt flats but absolutely LOVED Sedona and Zion.
I was shocked at how affordable a room was at the Zion Lodge.

Glad you're out enjoying yourself! Did you go alone?

Yumcha 08-03-2019 10:39 AM

Awesome to see the "drive-about", T. And what a car to do it with.

I would wager there's a contented look on that face as you're heading those turns and twisties and hearing that engine and feeling the control and power you have in that machine.

Never have I been more confident that I could pass a train of three semis on a 2-lane road and get from 70 to 120 in a blink of an eye. Absolutely an amazing machine.

That's some spiritual shit, right there. Deep trip to take alone...just you, the car, and Manilow blasting!!!

Not even ONE Manilow song! :annoyed:

rockstar143 08-05-2019 12:01 PM

What do you really listen to when you drive on this sort of trip? NPR?
I'm big on Metallica's or Seger's Turn the Page...
we took a little trip this weekend and the fiance got caught up with a few episodes of Breaking Bad

There was A LOT of U2 playing in my car during this trip...and I might have watched all of Rattle & Hum on my nav screen while driving through Nevada.

rockstar143 08-05-2019 12:53 PM

We stayed in Joshua Tree this last trip and ended up at the Harmony Motel where they took most of the pics for the album.
We're like the same person, you and I.
The next chapter is gonna be awesome, brother.
Glad to see you out and about enjoying your money and toys and life.

I don't know how inclined you are to jazz, Herr T...but, Miles Davis or Coltrane blasting is also some fine cruising music. :)

kurtatx 08-05-2019 07:19 PM

Tool is all on streaming now. So do that.

Did another run to Tortilla Flat with a couple of classic 911 owners:

What are your thoughts on the V10 vs the Bi-Turbo V8?

I'd imagine the newer car is in a different league handling / power wise.

Yumcha 10-07-2019 04:44 PM

:toocool:

How fast do you guys go at certain points?

Majofo 10-07-2019 04:52 PM

Is T going to convert to a P-car, or are those Porsche bros going to get themselves an M-car???? :ponder:

As much as I hate to say it .. I would much rather be in that M5 .

"Raw" driving experience aside, that car MOVES.

V10 v Bi-Turbo V8 - the V8 has FAR more power (575HP v. 507HP) and torque (500 lbs/ft v. 384 lbs./ft). The V10 wins in terms of the linearity of power delivery, the high RPMS (8,250) and the wonderful exhaust note, as well as the fact that it was a V10...pretty rare stuff.

As to the car as a whole, the F10 is far better sorted than the E60. The DCT in the F10 is orders of magnitude better than the SMGIII in the E60; it's not even close. The E60 was also a total drama queen; even the smallest issue seemed to send that thing into limp mode, it was a bit silly, really.

Posted speed limits may have been abused...this particular drive is really tight and narrow, so it was more about blasting out of corners than straight-line speed.

Neither, is my guess. They are definitely CLASSIC enthusiasts...I found them sneering at a couple of late-model 911s that showed up in town as we were leaving. As for me, I like my Bimmers at the moment.

Love the "FOOTDOWN" plate.
