Wait, what?
*Bob's head spins in confusion*

I hate to say it, but....with a payment only $20 a month less than the M5, you might as well have kept the M5. $20 is a dinner for two at Applebee's. I mean, if the primary concern was a change in finances, buying another BMW was not the way to go. I'm not trying to be harsh or judgmental, I'm just confused.

In any case, you will have lots of fun in the 335 and that is a good "car guy" choice any day of the week. MOAR pics!

I knew he would go back. Even my 60 y.o. father found the Genesis boring.

The monthly payment on the M5 wasn't the financial burden. The E60 M5 requires a significant amount of VERY expensive maintenance to keep it on the road ($1,600/yr. for tires, $300/oil change, front brakes $1,300, rear brakes $1,100, clutch change $4,000, SMG mainteance and repairs $????, VANOS maintenance and repairs $????. As I mentioned before, paying for the car was not the problem; keeping it on the road was becoming the problem.

Now I understand. Bob slow today.

I just went through this for the V, only it's MUCH less expensive to maintain.

Pads and rotors (and those $ amounts are the cost at independent; figure an extra $500 each at a dealer). Every dealer will tell you to both at the same time on an M5. Now, that being said, you can get the rotors turned at an independent, but they will warp given the stress are constantly under.

A number of days after I brought the M5 home, I replaced an upper A-Arm bushing, a underbody splash pan, and a rear-diff seal - $1,000+ at an independent; the dealer would have been a nightmare.

haha damn.

Dude congrats on the new purchase though! I know this forum has really become a big fan of the koreans as of late, but i still havent for the reason that you get more value for the purchase but you just dont enjoy your purchase.

I'm always a fan of bmw despite how unreliable they might be. I've driven a 328i at an event. So nice.
now where are those pics!!

Actually, my angel eyes from the M5 were in at the vendor for replacement from before my trade-in, so I just called them and asked if I could get a set for the E93 instead; they should ship today or tomorrow.

1M, still WAY too expensive. I prefer the looks of the 335 over the 135, even though the 135 is smidge faster.

But, there's always this: http://www.esstuning.com/products/ES...-Software.html

She could tell I hated it and she told me, despite the short-term financial impact, I should use a bit of my recent bonus and get something that was still cost effective to deal with the ongoing "Mom Issue", but that I would still enjoy.

I bought a '09 CPO BMW E93 335. Space Gray Metallic, Cream Beige Dakota Leather, Gray Poplar Wood Trim, Sport package, premium package, Steptronic 6-spd. Auto trans, sport steering wheel with paddles, Comfort Access with Comfort Load package, heated front seats, navigation, HD radio, satellite radio, Logic 7, iPod adapter, bluetooth phone. Original MSRP of $62k; listed for $41.5k; paid $38.5k. I pay $50/mo more for the car than I did the Genesis and $20/mo less than the M5.

It's not the M5 (which I still miss), but it's a lot more fun than the Genesis was ever going to be and I'm covered up to 100k miles under warranty (bought it with 37k miles). I've also got full maintenance coverage until 50k miles and it will cost me $2k to buy a full maintenance plan through 100k miles, if I so decide.

The kids love it. Took them for a ride with the top down last night and they had a blast. My oldest is especially relieved; he liked it when I would pick him up at Jr. High in that red M5. The new 335i will still be cool enough in his book.

Please, no lectures on the financial stupidity of how this went down. Circumstances sometimes dictate strange things. Did I take a hit on the Genesis? Yes. In hindsight, should I have waited a bit and traded the M5 across for this? Perhaps; assuming I didn't have to do the rear brakes and the clutch (both of which were getting close) before I did the trade.

So far, the car is a blast to drive. It corners flat and fast. The turbo charged six is a kick in the pants and the general feel of the car is a notch above in terms of fit and finish. Very pleased with this little car. I have a number of pics on the camera at home; I'll post pics this weekend.

See people always say that many buy BMW because of the badge. Its more to it than just that. You get emotionally attached to them even if its a simple daily driver.

Welcome back to happiness.

I just went through this with my CTS-V and was complaining about how maintenance was costing me this year.

Cliff's: I feel your pain, Tim.

Details:

Brakes started pulsing at 38k miles while I was on a 3k mile road trip in early June. With these performance rotors, the service manual indicates not to turn them, just replace them. So I did--with GM's new Brembo 2-piece rotors that are found at Cadi discounters for $600 a pair! That's cheeeeep. spent another $250 on pads and $150 or so on installation. Now the car brakes better than new at 40k miles. Hopefully these new rotors will last more than 40k miles this time.

Now for new tires. Pulled the trigger on Hankook Ventus V12s because I didn't want to pay for a third set of Michelin Pilot PS2s at 1650-1800 on TireRack. The Hankooks are $900 shipped.

Maintenance on these cars can be a lot.

Did I mention that I have to replace my two front snow tires for the V before winter? That's another $400-500.

Next year, maintenance should be close to zero other than oil changes....have to grin and bear it this year.
