In an effort to make lemonade out of the lemons life recently handed me...I began modding the Genesis. Re-badged and added an after-market lip spoiler to the trunk.

Before:

The "H" removed and lots of clean-up to do:

Goof Off to the rescue:

Adhesive gone, now new scratches to address:

Scratches (mostly) gone; Scratch-X, polish, wax:

New trunk badge:

Rear lip spoiler installed:

My son helping me install the new steering wheel badge:

Steering wheel badge:

After:

Genesis . . . one of the finest automobiles on the road.

Great job ttribe. It's all in the details!

Nice job, I gotta say that it's probably the Hyundai I would buy if I was going to (I think the Equus is pretty ugly, and more car than I'll probably ever need). The badges and lip spoiler really add to a Genesis. One thing I would say that is a small detail are to do those chrome bulbs for the rear blinkers. Probably not a huge deal since you never look at them and the lens design covers it mostly, just that on my car I couldn't stand the amber bulbs in my aftermarket taillights so I put the chrome ones in and it looks a hell of a lot better. Just my

I've actually given that some thought. We'll see; I tried some of those (Solaris) on the M5, but they didn't work very well. Don't know if there might be another brand worth trying; any suggestions?

How pricey is it to update the tails to the newer ones?

I love how almost every Genesis I see on the road has the Hyundai badge swapped out

Why did you dump the M5?

There really should come from factory like this. Genesis should have been a separate brand as well - Hyundai missed a good opportunity.

Dude, what an improvement! Love the new badges and lip spoiler. Nice work TT! Funny how you "downgraded" and it's still a car I'm incredibly envious of.

I agree. They have three models they could put under the Genesis moniker; that's the same Acura started with.

Ditto to that statement. I'm still rocking an 04 TSX with no AC for the second year in a row. Acura/Honda just can't fix it....

I've been test driving so many things I cant decide. Are there many differences between the 2010 and 2011 Genesis sedan? The 2010 4.6L is more in my budget.

I don't think there are many differences at all between '10 (or '09, for that matter) and '11. Check out http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...esis-forum.php for some additional info.

Creating a new brand is extremely expensive. The cost gets passed on to the consumer. That makes a Genesis significantly more expensive to give you what? Exclusivity? I'll pass.

It's alright T, there are plenty fish in the sea. You have a great gen, I'd love to have that in the garage. One day you'll be behind the wheel of an F10.

FYI - if you buy a Genesis don't expect an exceptional dealership experience. Between the Acura and the BMW during the past 6 years, I'd become rather used to getting loaner cars every time my car was in for something. Apparently, those days are over for me for the time being. (first-world problems, but killing me)

Weird. My girlfriend's '11 Elantra had some issues and they gave her a '12 Genesis.

Yes, it seems there is A LOT of variation amongst the dealers in terms of what to expect.

I actually ended up just getting the cheapest ones I could find off eBay . Seems like they work just find. I just think the chrome covering doesn't emit so much amber light during the day (still seems noticeable from a few feet away) but then at night there is really no difference. Pissed me off that I had to order three times since Sylvania and my dad gave me the wrong bulb types, and I finally found the answer I needed on a forum

Edit: Now after I post this I realize the mood change

Loving the new badges and spoiler, already liking the direction your headed and expect to see good things out of this thread in the future hahha. Hopefully for the benefit of all us you catch the mod bug a little bit. As for those bulbs have you considered switchback LED's? Had them on my first TL and they worked great. http://autolumination.com/switchback.html I've ordered some stuff from here before, never a bad experience.

I have considered them, but I'm reading that they end up with that crazy super-fast blinking pattern unless a resistor is spliced into the line.
