I'm staying at the Zona Resort on Princess right across from the Porsche dealership. I'll have to drive through the lot on the way back to the hotel to see if they have it listed yet. What kind of mark up do you think they'll put on it?

Not many people will ever have the opportunity to say that and I know you are proud to have had the chance to own it. Your enthusiasm showing me all the controls and settings on the M5 was proof of just how endearing the car was to you. Letting me take it for a spin the other day was a major highlight for me. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Wait. What? What? You traded in your car!?

I was away from the car talk section for about 2 weeks and this happens! I loved your 4x4 status M5... Just kidding.

I still remember the day that I offered to check out the M5 for you since it was pretty local to me.

I'm sure you will enjoy the Genesis Sedan and more than likely pick up another M5 in the near future. All of us have to sacrifice whatever to help out our families, especially our parents. You are a good man.

And great job on getting rid of those H badges asap. Those look certainly horrible even to a FOB from South Korea like me.

I just had to run some stuff back over to the dealer where I traded my car and saw the M sitting there...I wanted to fling myself onto the hood and hold on for dear life. Uggghhhhhh!

Traumatic, I know. But you WILL have another great car. Something that will surpass the M. Be patient my friend.

Wow...I go away for a couple of days due to some personal stuff and ttribe trades in the M5!??!??

I should ban him for it.

Seriously...sorry to hear that you had to get rid of your dream car. What you picked up is not a bad thing. Sure, it's a downgrade but it's still a fun car.

And the thing with life is, never say never. Maybe you'll go back to the BMW M family one day soon, dude.

You traded in your M5 in fear of what future repairs that might happen? Your firm would cover some of it as well.. ahh that sounded like the perfect situation! Unless i missed part of the story..

I think I would have rather hear you say you sold it because you do 20k miles a year and paying for gas is killer.

Not just repairs that might happen; repairs that were happening.

Please, I feel bad enough as it is.

sorry to see, Tim.

family comes first and you did the right thing. When the time comes, you can one-up the M5 and get yourself into another bad-ass car.

congrats on the Gen, they are great looking cars.

Do you mean my M5 or the brand? My M5 - I'm sick to death about it being gone. The brand - I wish they would do a better job of making these cars more reasonable to maintain. They aren't exotics; it shouldn't be that much work and $ to keep them on the road (and I don't just mean the M cars; my friends 545 was in the shop more than my M5).

I feel the same way too. When Infiniti can build a FX35 (as an example) that can do 150k miles on it with the preponderance of vehicles needing very little major work, there's no reason an X3/X5 should require the amount of work that they do.

The same for their other vehicles.

BMW is the batshit crazy wife that thinks she deserves special treatment because the guy she married makes more money than average.

Ferrari is a mistress. BMW is not.

WTF? I go away for ten days on vacation and THIS happens?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

OK....visceral car guy response out of the way.

I understand family issues, though, and I think you made the right choice.

I've been looking at the R-Spec myself as the car is a little bigger and has good straight-line power. I smack myself every time I think about it because my V will be paid off in two months. *yay!*

I'll agree with that. My friend worked as an intern at BMW North America headquarters, and he said there was an X6 that just sat there because they pretty much couldn't figure how what was going on/ the parts weren't available. Another kid I went to high school with posted a picture from the BMW dealership shop he works in and it was that they had to drop the entire engine from a newer 7-series to clean the intake valve. Don't wanna know what that repair bill was

I drive the mistress a lot more than the F10 though. At least the wack TPMS errors I kept getting on the BMW haven't been a problem the past couple months. Somewhat surprising that F-car is less troublesome than BMW but YMMV.

Tim, keep your chin up. You made the right choice. In a few years I hope you will be driving Porsche.

If we didn't "drive" the mistress more often what would be the point of having one

Navigation! Stick shift! If you've been thirsting for just the right 2007 BMW M5, well stop your search right here. This is the ideal car that is guaranteed to fit your needs. This M5 will take you where you need to go every time...all you have to do is steer! Porsche North Scottsdale will ship cars to any destination in the country.
... and they listed the mileage 8k miles under what is on the odometer.

I noticed the odometer thing...looks like they just screwed up. The pics clearly show the mileage.

I'm kind of surprised they can't get the description of the transmission right; they are a Porsche dealer after all ([cough] PDK [cough]).

Car looks great in those pics, though. I WANT IT BACK SOOOOOOOOO BAD!

Yes. I paid $36,800 with less than 40K miles on it. I think they'll be lucky to get $34K.
