So boring... I mean you just were able to order online a set of brakes parts and will have them installed by somebody else, is that it?

Says you?

This is ttribe's thread about his car and what he is doing to it...and what he shares is frankly, his right and enjoyable to some of us? So...I dunno, if you've got nothing nice to say...beat it?

It's because Saintor has a forging oven in his garage and he custom fabricates his own rotors. He then powder coats the hubs himself and hand manufacturers the 18 piston calipers (for front and rear) out of solid hunks of aluminum alloy.

Clearly Tribe's efforts are complete shit in comparison. Fucking BMW drivers. Next thing you know, Tribe will be telling us how he had *someone* else chip his bimmer for more power. Pfff. Saintor spits out new ECU tunes in his sleep. I mean, he drives the ultimate, ultimate driving machine- the oh so well regarded TLX. He's that kind of thrill.

Oh, and let's not forget that Saintor knows more about engines than anyone else. I mean, he single handedly told us that turbos are no match for engine displacement. And any dyno results are complete and utter BS. Yup. That's right. Turbo engines that hit their peak torque values, below 2000rpm, are no match for those NA engines that do the same at 5000rpm. Jeez, you guys. Seriously. Get your shit together.

Indeed, this mod is total overkill. I should really just switch to Flintstone-style stopping with just my feet.

I agree total overkill, no need for brakes people see a BMW they should move out of the way.

Saintor, is dead from the neck up.

Same guy who thinks he knows anything about luxury, yet buys his kids a stripped Honda civic without A/C. He has lost all credit to have an opinion because it's all irrelevant, and you can't rationalize with an irrational person.

Besides, he buys car parts from toys-R-us. Enough said.

To ttribe,

Great thread, keep up the great work. Hope all is well with your kids.

I've said it once and I'll say it again- He does not represent all Canadians. At all.

Tribe, post pics of the car once you get the brakes done. I'm interested to see!

He's as brain dead as SSFTX. Drives a 4 cylinder TSX, yet talks a mighty game when it comes to performance.

Neither one of these guys have the slightest clue about vehicles. They got into the "Game" when they started hanging out with the kids from high school with their plasti-dipped hub caps and $24.99 walmart intakes.

Yes. I've had stock brakes on the car the whole time I've owned it. Until October of last year, I was still under the extended maintenance program, so all the brake work was free. Now, I'm down to my last 2,500 miles left on the rear brakes and decided, rather than spend nearly as much at the dealership on just the rear brakes, I'd use this as an upgrade opportunity and get a performance kit from Turner. There's a shop right next door to my office building that does a lot of custom work on cars and trucks (mostly trucks, but they have a guy who works on European cars) and they said they'd put the parts on for their normal shop rate of $85/hr. I'm figuring an hour to an hour and a half.

BTW, while most of my driving is around town traffic, I do go on several pretty strenuous drives with the local chapter of the BMWCCA every year. Especially on the Alpine trip, I tend to get a lot of brake fade and smoke coming off the rotors when we stop for breaks. I'm hoping this will address some of that...not to mention switching away from the stock pads that leave more dust than an Iraqi sandstorm.

You asked me? Imagine, not only did I order online all rotors and pads for my beloved BMW (and the previous one), but I also did the job myself. Is it what you meant by "beat it!" ?

Anyway, I apologize and I must learn to revise my expectations down. Oh wait, I just bought an Acura.

So, you're asking for an award now, all because you did the job yourself??

Installed on Friday; had a crazy weekend so I didn't get a chance to wash the car (the wheels still have old brake dust on them), but I got a couple of cell phone pics of the front and rear wheels:
