Not sure how I missed the update but sorry to hear about the job situation but glad you are back on your feet.
Now back on topic, those are incredible pics and it looks like you had a blast. Funniest thing tho, all those 3 series seem to have some funny bump on the hood, you should look into getting that
Oh, feel free to trade your current car, pick up a nice Civic or something then trade for one of this 3s with the cancerous looking lump on the hood

For Christmas, my in-laws bought me 30-minutes behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo. I redeemed that today (crappy cellphone pics):
I didn't bring butter or bacon, but here's a pic with me to prove I was really there:

I'm still coming down from the high!
It was work to drive. You wouldn't want to drive this thing in every day traffic. But, boy did it go like a scalded cat when you got on it! Wow! Oh, and there really is no reason, at all, for a stereo in that thing. The sound of that V10 right behind your head is intoxicating.
Still not as good as an RLX with all-seasons and Super-Duper-AWD and PAWS and the Tech Package, and aerodynamic mirrors and properly placed AC vents.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't have a blathering-idiot look after the drive you just had.
That or you draped all over the hood of the Lambo.
I'm sure this was pic #2341244 after you had to re-do pic after pic after pic...

Anyway, he drove the car through the parking area near their shop, and then we switched seats. At that point, he had me drive out onto the road near their shop, and drive a little in traffic to get used to the shifting procedures and starting from a dead stop with that clutch (no 3rd pedal, but it sure acts like it).
After the initial road drive he took me on a route that involved some freeway driving right on the South Scottsdale, North Tempe border right near ASU. Basically, several on-ramp blasts followed by him telling you when it was okay to change lanes to get around slow (i.e. normal) cars.
Driving impressions - the transmission takes some getting used to. It rides VERY low and you can't see squat behind you. The suspension is VERY firm and the model I was driving didn't have any ability to adjust the suspension firmness. But, it handles like a dream, lots of feedback through the steering, in Corsa mode the shifts are unreal and that V10 is very linear and just keeps going and going and going.
In terms of lux stuff, there's not doubt it's a compromised car. The electronics clearly came out of an Audi, there's a giant subwoofer protruding out from between the two seats that looks a little hokey, and the leather is nothing to get excited about. But all the money in that car went into the performance. It is a SERIOUS machine when it comes to speed, acceleration, handling, braking, etc. Just unreal.
Oh, one more thing - everyone is looking at you when you drive this thing around. Nothing subtle about it.

It wasn't on a track. You start at their shop in Tempe, they walk you through how to drive the thing because of the unusual transmission. I explained to the guy that I owned an E60 M5 for a year, he smiled, and blasted through the explanation much quicker than normal. There are some differences between the BMW SMG and the trans in this car.

Sounds like the gift that you'll remember forever. What an experience!
I'm guessing this was the gearbox you had to use:
How fast were you allowed to take the Gallardo?
And I'm assuming this shop rents out exotics, right? Any Ferraris in the fleet?

Actually, no. Mine was the automated manual. That's why the guy smiled when I mentioned the SMG. It was similar in operation, but the Lambo version was less user-friendly than the one in my M5. When stepping on the throttle from a dead stop, you couldn't treat it like a normal auto, you had to be cognizant of the clutch engagement. Also, there was no shift lever between the seats; just buttons and paddles.
I hit triple digits several times.
They have an F430, which is what I planned to drive, but it was in the shop.

Dude nice! That's got to be an amazing experience. Someday I'll get to test drive a 500+ HP V10. Oh wait... Granted that was a front engine layout, well, and the dude sitting next to me wouldn't shut up about M Power button this and M Power button that.
