Holy crap that linked M5 is gorgeous

I love everything except how the rear diffuser is lower than the exhaust tips in the middle.

So far I've put a new set of Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions on the car, ordered ///M decals for the brake calipers, ordered LED's for the license plate, and ordered some AC Schnitzer (knock-off) racing pedals. Just got a price quote on the purchase and install of Eibach Springs and 12mm H&R spacers from Vivid Racing here locally as well. Right now, my inspiration is this car - http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/own...-released.html.

I don't think the tails were updated by the previous owner (sadly). I see actual bulbs in there rather than LED.
Yes I realized haha. I edited the original post with some more information you might find useful.

I'm probably not going to do the body kit work, but I really like the general style he applied to the car. The stance is perfect, the matte black grills and badging, just perfect as well.

Ohhhh, this is good stuff. Any links on how I go about getting my car coded?

Used that feature this last Sunday at church; really helped a lot. It was 111 outside when I came out to my car and it wasn't nearly as nasty inside.

Yeah coding is easy. If you have some computer experience you can DIY. The cable is only $85. It can also be used to find out whats wrong with your car in terms of check engine lights/iDrive errors. You need to download a few programs. Its straight forward.

Check out this place. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368

I found someone local. He does it for free. So I did not bother to get the cable. If you can find someone local that can also workout. Otherwise just buy the cable. At the end it pays itself off.

Here is a video of just SOME of the features coding unlocks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H0nj...el_video_title

Oh and get ANGLE EYES. Haha. My friend the one with red M5 has red angle eyes the car looks mean at night. You can pick those up for like $200. Through coding you can make the angle eyes your DRL.

Congrats on the M5. The color is gorgeous. I never really noticed how "mean" they were until I saw one at a meet not too long ago.

2007-2010 the trans choices were 7-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox; which is what I have) or 6-speed manual.

You may want to check to see if your SMG firmware is the latest version. One of my wife's co-workers husband is a BMW tech (been working on them for 30+ years). He was telling me that the 1G SMG systems used to get firmware upgrades a few times a year. If a SMG car was in for service and they were doing any computer work they would strongly encourage the upgrades. He said the upgrades made some small but noticeable differences for smoother shifts and driving.

Great looking car ttribe! I really like to the new pedals. I'm considering getting an M5 like yours. Is there anything I should look out for? Which BMW forum do you recommend?

Board recommendation - http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...ng-discussion/

Things to looks for - two categories: 1) things to look for in terms of options added by previous owners (to get the best car for your money); and 2) things that could go (or have gone) wrong.

Category 1) - I'd recommend looking for an M5 that has, at least, the following add-on's: a) Logic 7 sound system; b) active seat-backs; c) full leather interior with Alcantara headliner. Additionally, I prefer the brushed aluminum trim to the wood. The last thing I wish my car had is the "Comfort Package" with the ventilated seats and hands-free unlocking of the car.

Category 2) - inquire about the status of the SMG pump, the VANOS system, the steering sensor, and the rate of oil burn. The fact is, this is a car that started out life as a $90K vehicle with A LOT of technology in it; there are expensive things that can go wrong. I highly recommend purchasing an extended warranty (I got a 4 year/50K mile extension for about $3,600). Also, the big V-10 in this thing burns oil; be prepared to add a liter about every 2K miles.

BTW, here's a list of what the future holds for the M5:
  • Have a set of "M" decals for the brake calipers that I'm waiting to install until I do a little paint work on the calipers themselves;
  • Have a set of License Plate LEDs on the way (Umnitza this time; my first set of cheap ones from elsewhere didn't work out);
  • Received a box of goodies yesterday - matte black kidney grills, matte black side grills w/M5 sticker, and matte black M5 trunk emblem;
  • Awaiting arrival of a replacement steering wheel trim piece to get rid of the worn out one that came on this car;
  • Planning to replace the OEM trunk lip spoiler since a previous owner removed it;
  • Planning on doing Eibach Pro-Kit and 12mm Meisershaft spacers (probably won't do the matte black items until I do this);
  • Eventually install a Dension Gateway 500;
  • Eventually install RPI scoops and BMC filters along with charcoal filter delete.

When I eventually get my M5, I'll definitely look to you as inspiration. I never know where the M guys find the parts for their car.

Keeping with true Acurazine fashion, mods are a must! Your starter mods are pretty impressive. Can't wait for updated pics.

Interesting graph on the evolution of the M5, although the E60 0-60 looks a couple of ticks high based on other numbers I've seen (closer to 4.5): http://www.windingroad.com/articles/...content=WR72+3

I have heard that Umnitza are POS and that the company that sells them is shady. I've been trying to get rid of the chinese POS xenons in my E36 and vitriol towards Umnitza is pretty universal among BMW purists.

Of course donkey 18-year olds probably love them because they can retrofit xenons and angel eyes for $100

Interesting. They seem to be pretty well regarded over at M5Board.com. I'll keep an eye on this situation; I appreciate the heads-up.
