Me, either. I love dark reds. And having it on a car that you rarely see it on is that much better.
LOL, I was surprised when you originally said you drove it home. An Ontario in CA...who knew?

A friend of mine has an '04 545 and last night he showed me how to use the Launch Control on my car...WOW!!!! It was till tearing up the rear tires in 2nd gear when I let off the gas on the short, empty (and uninhabited) street I was using. Unreal.

Been a little busy, but I did work on the TL on Saturday to get it ready to sell. Took a couple of pics of the BMW while I was out there (it's still a little dirty...sorry) since I did its first mod - new tires: Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions. Very nice tire.
Love the lines of this car.

Love it man! Your car rocks. Don't know if this was mentioned or asked, did you pick up any type of extended warranty?

To answer your question - I joined the M5Forum right after I bought the car; they had a group buy going on extended warranties, so I got a 4yr./50,000 mile extended warranty from NAC for 10% off face value.

Sat too long, near as I could gather (I did see the auction invoice, btw). They'd actually sunk a little additional money into the car as well. Apparently, one of the owner's kids had driven it for six months. I've had it inspected since, and have done some minor repairs to it; other than that it's in great shape. Honestly, I think I just kind of lucked out.

I'll be following you when it's time to give up the TL.
Any pointers on how you searched? Autotrader? Carmax?

I went to dealers and looked at some of these cars as I searched to see the real condition up close. I drove three of the cars I looked at prior to the one I bought. I committed to "falling in love" with nothing. I always knew there would be another one out there the next time I looked at AutoTrader.
One thing that I didn't really think of early on - I expanded my AutoTrader searches to include some out-of-state areas. Ultimately, that's when I found the car I bought. It was in So. Cal., and I'm in the Phx area. I ended up using a free ticket I had on Southwest, took the 90 minute flight over to the nearest airport, hopped a 15 minute cab ride to the dealer and then bought the car. Drove it back to Phx that afternoon - 300+miles with the new car was a great way to get to know it a little better.

I looked at AutoTrader almost every day. I narrowed down my model selection (mostly you'll see some of that in this very thread ). I also researched Edmunds and KBB to see where prices on AutoTrader aligned with those services. Also, I read owner reviews on those sites and looked for enthusiast forums.

I'm just saying my chances might be a lot better that way.
Congrats on the ride again. It's a great car. My motto: 1 life 2 live (responsibly, of course)

Man that's awesome!!. I travel on Southwest (great airline btw.love them...) to South Florida a lot. I guess I can expand my search to include FL. I don't mind taking the 1200 mile drive back in an M5 to Houston. These cars are a little easier to find in Florida due to all the high end autos and people with high maintenance lifestyles. Which, in turn, is a deal for 2nd owners. I was there on the 4th of July weekend and I saw quite a few Lamborghini's, Bentleys, Audi S8 (2nd favorite auto), Mercedes S65's....etc....just rolling around like daily driven cars. Wow!
I'm just saying my chances might be a lot better that way.

Just as an aside, as I read owners' comments, one takeaway I had in comparing all the cars I was looking at (IS-F, S6, 335i, and M5), the M5 owners (on the whole) seemed to be the happiest with their cars. You can take that unscientific observation FWIW.

As a fellow owner of a E60 I congratulate you on your purchase. Please join us at M5board.com and 5series.net. Both great communities like AZ. I want to share some pictures of my friend Danny's Indianapolis Red M5. Perhaps you can get some suggestions from his car?
It looks like you have LCI tails. LCI tails were found on E60 from 08-10. The tallights have LED rods in them. Look gorgeous at night. Am I correct? If so looks like the previous owner had updated his taillights. EDIT-Just looked at other pics you don't have them. I suggest you get them .
His exhaust sounds very nice. You have 3 kids and are married so not sure if it will work for you :P.
Get your car coded. What that will do is unlock so many features that you will enjoy. For my car I have many features unlocked this way. One is (very useful IMO) when I press lock button on keyfob the windows go up and mirrors fold in and when I press unlock windows go down mirrors fold out. Another is double impulse signals I have also removed error codes for my LED license plates/HID fogs through coding. Our cars are notorious for throwing errors for every small little thing (License plate LED, front turn signal LED). Digital Speedo is cool just gives your speed digitally like many of the Mercedes cars do.
Not sure if the 07 cars have this but in iDrive you can set "Parked Car Ventilation" feature. Very useful for the hot summer days. I am volunteering at a hospital this summer for a internship and my car sits in the sun for 8-12 hours a day. With the "Parked Car Ventilation" the car turns the AC on (Yes AC is on without car being started) so by the time I get to my car its nice and cool. I usually have it set so it starts 5 min before I get to my car.

So far I've put a new set of Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions on the car, ordered ///M decals for the brake calipers, ordered LED's for the license plate, and ordered some AC Schnitzer (knock-off) racing pedals. Just got a price quote on the purchase and install of Eibach Springs and 12mm H&R spacers from Vivid Racing here locally as well. Right now, my inspiration is this car - http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/own...-released.html.
I don't think the tails were updated by the previous owner (sadly). I see actual bulbs in there rather than LED.
