For anyone that truly might consider buying a TT Supra someday, here is one word of caution. Make sure the car you are considering goes into the Toyota dealer for a cylinder compression test before you buy. True Supra guys know that some of these Supras have low compression that could lead to serious future problems.
I had a 1995 Supra TT 6-speed for 3 1/2 years. I absolutely LOVED the car. It was scary fast, yet easy to drive around town. It was also a total attention magnet. I only sold it because I was able to sell if for just $300 less than I paid for it after putting 10K miles on it as a second car. I could probably get $10K more now (live and learn). I had it up for auction and many potential buyers said they would buy assuming the compression checked out.
I figured I would save everyone the hassle and just go get it tested at my Toyota dealer. I figured this was just a formality. Turns out that one of my cylinders was considered "low" at about 110 lbs of pressure (over 150 is normal). I was shocked. I asked the service guy what I can do about that. He said that I should probably sell it (which I was already doing) as the only way to fix that is a complete engine rebuild! He was terribly surprised since my car only had 38K miles on it and was very well maintained. He did say that I might run into a problem on the way home or it might never cause a problem for the life of the car. You never know...
Just my . I would hate to see any of my fellow car guys get burned.
