Lightbulb Top Sport Compacts of the 90's!

http://www.tunertalk.net/home/2007/1...-nineties.html

Hello fellas. I ran across this article about picks for the top three sport compacts of the 90's. I thought it was a pretty interesting read, and since I think most of us here came from a sport compact at one point or another from this era, I thought I'd share this with everyone and see what you guys think.

I wonder if they should have listed the Integra as a "slash" with the Civic, ala the Eclipse/Talon.

For the record, I test drove a Talon turbo with AWD and decided I would kill myself if I got that car. Ended up with a GSR and never looked back.

You see below why I'm somewhat biased in my opinion/experience. I suppose some will think they are too expensive to buy to make that list, but in the long run you get a lot of performance for relatively minor modifications and as usual, you get what you pay for; I bought it 8 yrs ago and consider it the best car decision I ever made. Before that I did also have a '90 Eclipse turbo that was a fun package.

'95 Supra turbo
PHR1 turbo on IM cast mani w/HKS 60mm GT WG + PHR Stg2 fuel/850cc's + gForce + MAP ECU + Blitz SBCiD + FJO/NTK + Racelogic TC + Tein HA's + TRDgen2 + Carbotech pads stock rotors +
Veilside EvoV wheels 18"X 9-1/2"F, 10-1/2"R + HKS triple disk clutch w/ HKS lwfw

^ it is a great car, thanks. Cost in the "big picture" is not as much as some might figure, depends how you calculate cost of ownership. Part of the ownership cost to me is the "fun while you owned it" factor which for this car is VERY high ...IMO. And then current value/resale comes into play.

For example, I bought it slightly used (still smelled new ), original owner just under 15,000 miles, never moded bone stock under $30k = a good deal in my book especially considering I drive it often (now over 80,000 miles), though mine is always well maintained and always runs perfect, and now I could put all my stock parts back on (still have, I'm a pack rat) and sell it for what I paid for it. But unless something I don't forsee now happens, I'll never sell it.

But on that published list, I've always thought the Nissan 240's are very nice and capable with great mod potential. As I said above, I already had a 5sp turbo Eclipse and really like it and they are popular and relatively cheap. The Hondas have proven capability and respond well to mods, but I just would not want a "high performance" FWD car as my "fun car".

Nice, I had two of the three, well, if you consider the CRX a Civic, and the years are a little off, but who cares, I loved both of them!
