Sam...do you think my car looks cool? I do.
In about 3 hours I could have my car "appear" to be totally bone fucking stock. I kid you not and that's not an exaggeration. Height, exhaust note and if I have the time, remove strut bar and intake. Either way, they are both fine examples of the car. I try and run it through my "is this what they intended" filter with anything I do to most of my cars. If it doesn't enhance it, fuck that... And multiple times I've done mods, stood back and thought...that doesn't look good (Wife usually 'I told you so's') and I revert. Gotta know when you fucked up too... Anyway...Sam is with it, I have respect for a guy with such a passion for this car and prunes, the sunday paper, crossword puzzles, metamucile, cheap movie theater tickets, free bus fare. |

dude, I'm just giving you shit. I think tasteful mods are just fine, I choose to keep mine stock(ish) because that's just what I want to do with my car. Yours looks great, I would be content driving it.
That spoon one though....:ugh: |
Sam...you and I agree wholeheartedly on that one, man.
|
I like the Spoon S2k but I don't want my car to look like that :tomato: I'll let someone else spend the crazy money to get all of the attention while I keep it simple.
I've had the S2k just over a month and have put over 2200 miles on it. I can't get enough of it...plus my commute is nearly 75 miles round trip  I started a Fuelly account for the TL back in 2013 but never used it. I removed the TL from my account and entered all of my S2k gas receipts since the purchase. You'll see that I gas up pretty often since the tank is so damn small. Click below to expand the stats! It's really cool. http://badges.fuelly.com/images/sig-us/381673.png |
damn...that's great. ethanol and hot weather and no highway is killing mine...like 18
TL sell yet? |

TL sell yet? I got like 28-29 on my way up north a few weekends ago. Around town I average like 24ish. Edit: If I really flog it, I get like 20... |
Yeah, man...even with a light foot...best I get down here with highway driving is 22...
|
27mpg ain't bad! I'm assuming you're mostly highway?
Since moving closer to work, my commute has gone down quite a bit but I still average around 25-26mpg (70% highway commute, ish). |
:bored:

Stop romping it J!
It's not what you drive, it's how you drive it :teef: |
Remember, J isn't as skinny as we are. :O

I am going to quit the internets. Go live in the woods. Leave all this pain behind.
Fine, maybe I'll just cut my toenails and shave my toes. |

Jin. :punch:
No more soup for YOU! |
The TL is currently a lawn ornament. I need to sell it but I'm lazy.
As for the S2k, I met a local AP1 owner who's also a technician at Honda, and he helped me change the transmission and differential fluids today. Shifts are smooth as butter :toocool: |
It's not canary yellow or pussy pink.. fail.

One word describes my last 16 days with the S2000...
...hydrolocked. South Charlotte was hit with insane amounts of rain over the course of a week, some estimates of 10" within two days, and I was caught in a flash flood. I was on a 2-lane back road during heavy rain and traffic suddenly came to a stop. A troft/ditch to the right side of my vehicle was full of water and due to runoff from a neighboring veterinarian office, water started quickly rushing over the road. Traffic started to inch up but as soon as I put the car into gear, the engine died. I put the car in neutral, got out, and pushed the car with two other people up a hill and out of the water. Here's a quick clip of how quickly the water rose and exactly how much was out there. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5685/...662a6527_b.jpg Luckily the water didn't enter the cabin of the S2000, but it certainly was close. Long story short, insurance took care of the repair since I didn't drive directly into the water; I was stationary when the water breached the road. The insurance lingo describes my situation as an "Act of God", so a $250 deductible took care of this: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5755/...33bcb430_b.jpg Honda no longer makes this engine so a used unit had to be located. One with 85k miles was found and was installed in the vehicle by a local Honda dealership which I knew the Service Manager of. Looking back, I should have turned off the engine as soon as I saw water starting to move across the road, but I panicked and thought I could get out of harms way rather quickly. Instead, I bent the connecting rods and blew a hole in a perfectly good engine. For two days after it happened, I didn't eat or sleep. I was heartbroken, angry, embarrassed, sad...any or all the above. I've been wanting a S2k for over a decade and a month into it, I blew it up. It's been a few rough weeks for me. However, the car is back on the road and feels fantastic. Also, the day after this incident, my custom plate arrived. Talk about a low blow  But now it's finally made it's way onto the car. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/697/2...10fe390b_b.jpg I still want to get the windows tinted but considering I've had the car in my possession for 6 hours over the last 16 days, I'm just happy to have it home :) Edit: I knew the question would be asked and I figured I would go ahead and knock it out. Yes, an aftermarket cold air intake was installed on the vehicle when this happened. AEM V2 to be exact. With this unit, the tube extends pretty low like so: https://typhoontune.files.wordpress...._1584247_n.jpg I wanted to purchase a bone stock AP2, but I figured that lug nuts and an intake were easily reversible. I had the stock intake in my garage ready for install but never got around to it. Needless to say, the aftermarket intake didn't make it's way back onto the car. |
Damn!
Sorry to hear that Tyler! So Glad insurance did it's job! |
Holy crap, buddy! I'm so sorry to hear about this, but I'm glad she's up and running again.
|
that's crazy on the hydrolocked. I bet you're glad to have it back. also did you sell all your TL parts?
|
Damn Tyler...fucking great that you're back in action, man.
I kept thinking you had FIPK...I guess I'll just be happy with a little heat soak! |
I don't get the plate...what's the "5" for?
I'm glad to see you back in action too buddy, hopefully now you can just enjoy it! |
Damn, Tyler, that's royally sucks. Glad to see it was taken care of. Video is crazy...wish I could get some of that rain over my way.
And yeah, what's with the 5? |
