TL S 2nd and 3rd gen engine differences
Has anyone ever looked at the two engines to see what was made differently? Or if the different components would fit the two engines? From what I understand, they are both 3.2L, but that doesnt necessarily mean that they use the same block...
Not planning on doing anything like this unless my engine blows, but I was just wondering for wondering's sake...
I searched and didnt come up with anything, but I might have been searching the wrong things.

Go down to the section on Engine Architecture...
That should explain it all for you.

So, it seems that the main differences are the block, pistons, crank, head and exhaust.
It appears that the only thing that could be converted to the Type S (2003) would be the pistons to up the compression. At that point though, I would have the crank lightened and balanced instead of just adjusting the counter weights.
Thanks for the link, it was helpful.
