Tired of the Old Audi...

I came across this article, regarding the Golf's future. I'm sure it'll translate directly into the future S3 and RS3 also.
https://www.vwroc.com/index.html/art...ext-gen-r-r97/
So the R is going Sport Hybrid... Acura should be proud!
Killer, that means in 20-25 years, your s3 will be worth a fortune, being the last gen before electrification. Take good care of it and make a profit in the future!! You'll make a small killing on bringatrailer

I have an ultra prestige then...
and Brian, yes...I'll be your cameraman. And Huckleberry. Kurt will be your muse.
Golf and S4 are on my radar too...although given the fact that I enjoy driving my older A3 now, I'd probably be just fine with anything 6MT 2.0t with low enough miles to tune to at least stage II.
I had a loud catalytic in the A3 and had it cut out ( the only emissions Florida is concerned with are nocturnal) and all of a sudden I could hear exhaust and turbo and could actually feel
when it kicked. I guess I inadvertently gave myself a performance downpipe.

Yeah, good call. Acura had enough gremlins with their introduction of the Sport Hybrid system in the RLX. I don't know if I want to be a guinea pig for VW either. I can't wait for Audi to start using that tech also, though. I've narrowed my car search down to two cars- the Golf R DSG (gasp!) or a 2016 S4 6MT (the last year it was available). Not planning to buy for another 12-18 months, so I'll wait for that rumoured Golf to come out to see if it's worth the risk

But even with that said...this car is quicker than my stage one 2.0T B7 A4. It's a fun car.

likely the transmission is a big part of it. More gears = shorter gears = faster acceleration.
and the overall engine output is higher:
2006 A3 2.0t: 207lbft @ 1800rpm; 200hp @ 5100rpm
2015 A3 2.0t: 258lbft @ 1600rpm; 220hp @ 4500rpm
As far as curb weight is concerned:
2006 A3: 3267lbs
2012 A3: 3362lbs
So the newer A3 weighs 95lbs more, but has a bit more HP earlier on, and way more torque earlier on.

Yeah, man...
I was lowballing some cheap one on ebay and decided to take a closer look at the exhaust and then realized I inadvertently made mine a catless downpipe by cutting that section out.
Fuck it...
it pulls decently, I can only imagine with a tune...
I should find another shop that'll throw caution to the wind...how hard could a rebuild be on a 2.0t and really how hard would it be to find a donor motor with <100K miles.
But, if I went that route I would probably sell and buy a lower mile, newer one anyway...hatch though, not sedan.

They aren't the same engine though, are they? I wonder if it is as easy as just plug and play.
I'm a bit confused at what you want to do... rebuild your current engine, or drop in a newer engine? Rebuilds are never cheap. I've been cautioned about rebuilding an engine with that much mileage, too, in the past. I dunno how true it is or if there is much to worry about. But then after a rebuild, you're gonna want moar powah, so then comes the exhaust, then come the injectors, then comes the bigger turbo, then... might as well just go with a newer engine that already cranks out more power (assuming that it can be done without a ton of effort).
I cant imagine a rebuild being less than $2500. Even that seems cheap to me. Parts aren't crazy expensive, but the labor required is no small fry.

i just meant if i tuned and blew up current motor.
keeping that project cheap was always the goal. it was supposed to be a flip but after making
it look and drive well, i got attached. that's my problem, i make them all girlfriends when they should just be fucks!

Very late to the party but, congratulations! Always loved the style of the A3/S3.
So ... what are your plans for mods?

The 2.0T is a "Closed" Turbo system. It has a Diverter Valve Rather than a Blow Off Valve. Weird thing..I could hear my diverter on my old audi with a tune...can't here the the turbo or the diverter on my A3.

Once the warranty is up Stage 2. Already have been doing some appearance mods. New Black Rings for front and back, debadged the A3 and 2.0T ...left the Black Quattro Badge. oh yeah, for the mean time I dropped in a K&N Washable Filter
