The RS3 is a legitimate counter argument to certain posters' insistence that the V6 and larger are king. The 2.5L in the RS3 is a masterpiece.

It is indeed. I love everything about that car. Although I would love it even more if we had gotten the hatch here in the states.

True. Hatchbacks are the best. So fuggin useful. Especially with five doors
Not gonna lie... I'm considering going auto. I sold my Nismo on the weekend, but there truly isn't anything in a 6mt that interests me. I love the ctr but it fails so badly in the looks department, it's enough for me to avoid it.
If I start considering any type of auto tranny, the choices improve drastically. I very well may end up in a golf R with the DSG. I love my manuals but I dunno... It's slim pickings these days and I don't want another old car.
The R has a nice balance of being super functional, looking good, being fun and sporty and being an all around solid car. I probably won't buy anything for about a year at least. It's nice to be payment free and debt free.

Didn't know it did not have memory seats. How can something in an RS trim not have memory seats that seems crazy. Unles the seats are manual to save weight which I really doubt they are.

Cost cutting i guess. People give me so much shit for caring about that but my wife drives my car a ton so it's pretty critical for me.

That's because the motors don't fit in the RS seats. The A3/S3/Golf/GTI/R come with power seats.

Then there's the STi, but it seems to be the worst of the pack in terms of performance. That and the 20 year old with white frame Oakley association with those cars is a bit much.

Can you guys imagine a time where we had to check our tire pressures and roll windows down with the strongest mechanical motor around, our arms!?!? Eghad! The horror! Uncivilized! If only I could still buy a car with only two front airbags and not the other 43 in the car adding a bazillion pounds of weight. Take out the nav too. Give me a radio/aux input and ac and take out every other luxury feature. Is it too much to ask to want a car like RS3 but want it to only weigh 3000lbs instead of the 3600lbs it weights right now. Still want the 5cyl Turbo though.

Regarding the electric seats thing, they're heavy af compared to non. In a perfect world, I would have old school seat adjustment, but with ventilation. Will probably never happen

Most people I've met driving 370Zs are older. Most people I see driving 370Zs are older. At least around these parts. There was an age poll on the 370z forum and most owners were older
In my experience, most STi owners I've ever come across are well under 40. I'm sure there is overlap between demographics.

. The M2, though, had a sense of engagement that was missing from the Audi.
I don't have a problem with TT-RS/RS3 I5 which sounds very good, and unlike my 1986 I5 2.2T, it delivers.. I am a fan of I5. It has some growl and character. So you'll have to eat your statement.

I love my A4 (with sport suspension, 7sp DCT, and electronic goodies). It shifts better than I ever could, engages me enough, and provides a great, stress-free environment for pretty every kind of driving I need to do, whether I am moving along in a traffic jam, driving on a snowy country road, or flying down an open freeway.

LOL...well, there's not much to tell them apart. I had to go back to the original post to check.
PS...drove the A3 yesterday and this morning...when it's not 100 degrees out, I certainly do love hearing the whoosh whoosh and rowing through the gears.
