Thoughts on X5 M?

LOL for sure my boy just picked up a 2010 silver HSE Sport for around 60K to add to his C2S. I definitely wouldn't keep it beyond warranty or consider leasing it. Unreliable as f-ck but pimp as all hell.

I can't speak from ownership experience myself but my sister's Land Rover was a worthless piece of sh-t even under warranty with electronic gremlins, etc. She got out of her LR and into a RX330 faster than a baby say's "goo"

Reliability
The 2010 Land Rover Range Rover reliability score of 5.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. I agree the Cayenne is really nice, however the person making the purchase dislikes the new Cayenne. We'll see what happens the decision has yet to be made.

so a 80k Range Rover with a 5.0 reliability rating is literally less dependable than a 10k Kia with a 5+ rating?

I used to pay $1500 a month for this:
2006 X5 4.8is
I wasn't leasing it though. After 6 months....It finally hit me and although I absolutely loved it....it had to go
I don't really like the X5M as much to be honest, I looks like the older X3 with the M sport package IMO.
Would I drive one? Of course!

It is indeed a shame about the Range Rovers, we were looking at SUVs at while back at the MB dealership for a GL and they had a pre-owned 08 RR Supercharged in the back of the lot. These things have really outstanding interior designs, very posh and cozy unlike the germans Only if they were more reliable.

Lotsa power...
It would be a tossup between this or the Mercedes' ML AMG.
For alot less, your relative can join the FX50 ranks and get something just a smidge slower.
And no on the X6...that's an abomination on wheels.

haha yeah they live in CA and I think that's right around what the house is worth so the mortgage is definately more than $1500.

My boy's HSE Sport is so plush on the interior, definitely has that British flavor with all the bells and whistles.
Speaking of British luxury, there's an 06 DB9 black/black spyder with only 4K miles for sale at $89K. Unfortunately, no AM servicing in H-town so I don't know how they get maintained. Still might go test drive it though.

Srsly, 2010 black GT3 sat at the dealership for almost 3 months before someone in Kailua snatched it up. 2 years ago you had to special order them.

Are they updating the 2010 SC models as well? If so you could get a firesale on the 2009s. I know the 2009 LR3s are like 48 month 0% financing LOL since the new LR4s are already on the lot. Not sure about the RRSC though, definitely tits.

You guys really like the Rover huh?
Anyway he ended up purchasing a White X5 4.8i. Got rid of the MDX and his A8 and will end up paying a lot less by consolidating to one car.
The car is on special order, and will be had in 4 to 5 weeks.

Hope he got the upgraded seats...those are really nice.

At least he got the 8 cylinder though. IDK I think the X5 design is somewhat played out. The RR looks so menacing when I see it pulling up behind me in my rear view mirror.

The thing with the X5...at least where I live...is they are EVERYWHERE. Seriously, every third SUV I see is literally an X5.
That being said, it's not bad looking and I don't get that tired of seeing them...Then, there's the abomination that is known as the X6.

I feel the need...
The restyle update on the X5 doesn't do anything for me. The X6 just looks silly, like a bloated CRX with 4 doors and ridiculously large wheel wells. Looks better than the ZDX though, but I just don't get this class of vehicle period.
#78
I guess the X6 is one of those love-it/hate-it type...it still hasn't grown on me, and I don't see it growing anytime soon. Its horrible how much companies are investing in this kind of vehicle, it seriously does fall under the WTF category. The new 5 series GT is just as awkwardly retarded looking. <--all coming from a BMW fanboy

UPDATE #2
He couldn't wait the four to five weeks and got a....
Black 4.8i X5.
It looks nice, there interior is roomy and of course the paint is very high quality and buttery smooth. He'll ruin the paint in two months after taking it to an auto car wash, though.
The shifter is a very original design, it looks pretty cool.
The only thing is, I tried to open the glove box and couldn't figure out how. I need to get the copy of the insurance car with the VIN so I can see if I can get a cheaper rate, lol.
Payments are rather inexpensive considering two things:
1) He traded in a Audi A8 and was upside down on the loan a couple grand.
2) He traded in a 2009 Acura MDX with 1K miles and incurred a couple grand in depreciation added on to the car.
For a MSRP of 71K plus the added negative equity, $900 a mo. sounds like a reasonable price.
Also note the MDX was $700 a mo. So essentially $200 more a month yielded a much nicer vehicle. But factor in he had the A8 payments as well and he saves $400 a mo. + money on insurance.
