Thinking of an NSX, advice anybody?

So, I'm planning on hooking up the CL-S auto soon, but I was thinking I would like to do all the work to a 6MT at least, so i could keep the car without worrying about the tranny going after spending $8k on paint and interior.

Theeeeen, I came across a few used NSX's, one on PAA and one online in GA, pretty good prices too. What doi you think, too good to be true on the GA one? Can the NSX be a daily driver?
any advice would be great.

2000 NSX, $50k with 45k miles:
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...3&aff=national

2003 NSX, $35k, 15k miles, looks too good to be true...

I like the red one and the price/mileage looks like a steal. Only buy that if you can personally see the car and then you would have to have Carfax plus Acura do a vehicle inspection...

I don't know, gonna call and see, but I feel like a sucker for even calling, I mean, kbb lists the car at about $59k, its probably a salvage or something, too good to be true, ya know.
\
here's another too good to be true deal, yet the guy has 100% positive feedback. Man, I wish it was true:

NSX's can be a daily driver, in my brief experiences they were comfortable and practical enough. Fuel economy isnt bad, expect high teens to low 20's and they're quite reliable.

it depends ron really. I mean if you do the CL you can show off your products you make (kit, wheels). parts are considerably cheaper for it compared to parts for an nsx. If you do the nsx you can still show off your wheels but most of the other good parts for the nsx will have to be ordered from japan which can be extremely expensive.

I think you messed up the links. Anyway... the 2003 one sounds suspicious. Be careful of flood-damaged vehicles also. They can make the interior and engine bay look brand new, but the car will be plagued by electrical problems. I know a couple of people who own an NSX and one guy who has a 1991 BB and uses it as his daily driver. He loves the car. Depends on you if you want to drive it everyday though, or if you want to garage it, or to use it as a weekend toy. Don't know about the MPG, but if you drive like a grandma I'm pretty sure it's not bad. But who in the hell would drive like a grandma in a NSX?

Don't know about the 2005 BB. Probably wants someone to take over payments, or something.

I personally would look for one with all black interior. But for a newer one with low mileage and in good condition is hard to find. And then again, just cause it has low miles doesn't mean it wasn't abused.

I know, I know, who the hell am I kidding, like I can afford an NSX, but just offering my opinion.

well, I don't plan on modding it as much as the CL, just 20" forged Rival-1pF rears, and 18" or 19" fronts. The car supposedly does 0-60 in upper 4- lower 5's, so thats tons faster than my Cl, which was really good enough for me. ANd the headturning cpapbility of this car is beyond any CL I have ever seen. I'm doing it for myself more than a promotional thing. Its either this or a 2003 CL-6 w/ Navi and low miles.

Yes, it would have to have Navi, like my current car. i LOVE the CL, everything about it, and I am planning some big things for it, but i cannot justify the amount of work on such a suspect tranny. At least with the 6 speed, it'll be my fault if it goes.

i saw that blue one in park ave acura!! i actually circled around it and got to check out the interior. it looks pretty damn flawless to me..
plus that rare color.. wow. damn beautiful. i couldnt stop staring at it.. i always pass by route 17 and slow down to take a nice stare at it

the red one is kinda creapy only because its so cheap. i dont understand how it could have only 15,000 miles and be that cheap. plus its the newer model too.. i dont know how i would trust it either, since it is in atlanta, its not like you can really test drive it or take a look before purchase it, unless youre willing to go down there to check it out

The red one:

1 - salvaged title
2 - flood damaged
3 - typo in the add
4 - car is Atlanta, owner is in Europe and wants you to send him a money order for the car

Either that or the guy just has no clue what his car is worth.

I'm guessing it's #4

here's the email response I recieved for the red one, sounds so easy it's scary! Can someone do a carfax on it? how can I find out the deal on this car?:

Hello there,
I appreciate your interest in my car.
The price includes the shipping/handling fees to your location. The transaction will go through escrow for our own protection.
They will hold and insure your money until receipt of the car in good condition. You will have 15 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
It is in a perfect condition, the mileage is accurate, no scratches, no damages, no hidden defects.
The car is in showroom condition inside and out, garage kept. There are no dimples, dents depressions, scrapes, nor scratches anywhere. The paint is in fantastic condition as is the trim grill, bumpers, glass etc. The wheels are in "as new" condition with no abrasions and the tires are in excellent condition. The interior of this vehicle has no rips, tears, burns, stains, nor worn spots on the seats, carpet, door panels, nor anywhere else, smoke free.
As I've already told you the payment will be done via secure pay system of an escrow company which means that the third party keeps the money until you receive and inspect the car.

If you wish to purchase it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through escrow.
Shipping takes 4-5 working days.
The price is correct and the title is clear.
Looking forward for your reply,
Deborah and Jason

As soon as I saw the word escrow I knew it was a scam. Ask him who the escrow company is.

Is this for real? here's another reply i got for a different car off Ebay!

Hello,
Thank you for contacting me about my item 1993 Customized Black Acura NSX, in pristine condition. The price i want to sell it is $5000
About the car: it is in immaculate condition and has no scratch on
and
hasn't been involved in any accident. The motor runs very well. The car
was
always garage kept and rarely used, showroom condition. The
title
is clear ,it is not a salvage one. I have legal document by which I can

from
here,I will support all the shipping fees.
The delivery will take within 5 to 7 working days (with insurance and
30
days return policy). The service has frequent shared container services.
It will be insured at the delivery service. If something happens on the

expectations, you will return it in max. 30 days since the arrival
date. In
this case I will pay the return shipping and insurance.
ALSO ABOUT PAYMENT AND SHIPPING I WILL USE ONLY EBAY VEHICLE PROTECTION PROGRAM SO WE CAN BOTH BE
PROTECTED!
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO EMAIL ME YOUR COMPLETE NAME AND ADDRESS FOR

If you agree with my above terms, I'm sure that we can close the deal
as
soon as possible.I have reserved the item for you until we will have
your
final answer.
Thank you!

Come on Rondy. You're kidding right?

Tell them you just negotiated a deal with another seller but it didn't work out. You have a cashiers check for $10,000 that you will send to them on the promise that they will send you back the $5000 difference.

These scams are as bad as that time I saw ocean front property for sale in Ohio.

I would not buy any of these without seeing them and driving them first. It's just too much of an investment.

even a 91 NSX with over 100000 miles still costs u at least 20k, i dun think the 2003 one is for real

my landlord has a 91 NSX with over 140k miles with a new painted body and asking for 32k CAD

if u really like NSX u should go to the NSX forum to do some research on the price

Why does escrow automatically mean scam? If the third party escrow company is a reputable one what is the problem? After all, this is exactly how houses are sold.

I am very happy with my NSX. It will be paid off in a couple of months and then the real fun begins with it. I have done a few things to it but haven't gone overboard with it.
I have an 04 TL that is my daily driver and I gave my old daily (95 Int GS-R) to the wife for her to drive.
I really enjoy taking the car out on the weekends and having a good time with it. The maintenance is very low, heck, it's a Honda afterall. Just make sure it has had the timing belt/water pump done and depending on the year of it to check for the snap ring issue.
The car should provide years of pretty much trouble free driving.

But who in the hell would drive like a grandma in a NSX?
Matter of fact...I do.

I have heard about the meet. I don't know if I'll be in the state that weekend or not yet.
If I can make it, I certainly will bring NSX.

Well, Me and ClassyCLS went to check out the car, looks pretty good, yeah it has a few surface scratches etc, and a few wrnkles on the seats, but I was content with the condition of the car over all. The salesperson took me for a test drive, (since I didn't feel comfortable driving manual on the NSX) and it felt as powerful as an M3 I was driven in before. Liked how it handled, and the ride was pretty compliant, like my CL with coilovers and a no finger drop. turns on a dime and def turns heads. Interior looks a bit dated, but a little reupholstery and a MOMO steering wheel can fix that. Has a new clutch as he told me, and the engine was pretty hot after an 8 minute drive. He offered me a 12 month warranty and the cost was $49,995, currently marked down already to $47,xxx. I gave him an offer of $37,000 (i know) hoping he would meet me at $41000 or something, and kinda left telling him to call me after he could see what can be done. offered me $11k on my CL, as long as I revert it to stock. My friend has a friend that has a 2005 NSX, and I'm gonna see if he can take me for a ride in it again, just to get a feel for it. Its gonna be my daily driver, i just hope it can hold up. I'm 50% sure I want this car considering the price.
