The sizzle in the Steak
NBC is hurting in a bad way. First the dropping of the entire 10:00 line-up...and passing the slot to Jay Leno....now dropping Top Gear.
Network Television.......you are a dinosaur.

Let's be honest... it would have sucked anyways. Nothing would have been better than the original. The wit and humor of the original Top Gear is what separates it from other car shows.

Adam is plenty funny, & Tanner Foust does a decent job on Supercars Exposed. Both of these guys love cars....and in a "Top Gear" show type environment, I think it would have been pretty good.
Sure, the Original Top Gear is best....but to say this would have sucked is ignorant of the hosts.

I disagree. I don't think it would have sucked.

All About Trance
I'm sure Speed TV will pick it up. Wouldn't that be the logical choice?
After all, Pinks is so awesome.

Dammit. Why can't BBC just show. the. fricken. original. on. BBC. America. in. a. timely. fashion? PEOPLE WILL WATCH. I'd rather do that than spend hours downloading it first.

.... NBC Networks have decided to pass on airing Top Gear USA to their new lineup due to the current and late failure of Knight Rider. .....
NBC thinks Knight Rider ~= Top Gear?!?!?
They're more fucked up than I ever imagined.

I wonder if another network can pick up the show? ABC, CBS, FOX, Discovery, etc...

So apparently Top Gear US is now coming to cable?

"We have a scoop on the much-anticipated U.S. version of "Top Gear": BBC has decided to take the show to cable, where presenters' funny mouths, from which often spill foul words, will be more at home. There are no hard feelings and NBC will be sharing custody of "Top Gear" dog. A number of cable networks were delighted with the news... watch this space. "

Adam Corolla would never work on broadcast tv. I was just thinking about how he would be bringing humor to the show and imagining some of his jokes....yeah those wouldn't fly.

No offense but I'm happy this is canceled , top gear is so much more then just the cars they show . The personalities involved in top gear is what makes it an all around enjoyable show to watch ( even to some who aren't car enthused ) .

Top Gear America on The History Channel
Surprised no one's posted this yet.
Anyways, according to a Top Gear blog post --> http://transmission.blogs.topgear.co...ear-usa-alive/
the American version of Top Gear is a go.

Yes, it’s true. The History channel and BBC Worldwide announced today that work has begun on an American version of TopGear, with US presenters fronting the new show.
The first series of ten episodes will air on History next fall (an American-only season not dissimilar to ‘autumn’, we believe), though exact dates are yet to be finalised. It will be hosted by Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood.
Tanner Foust’s name should be familiar to TopGear faithful. He’s a renowned stunt driver (The Bourne Ultimatum, no less) and X-Games rally gold medallist who’s also done the business at Pikes Peak and in international ice racing championships. Not only that, he beat Jenson Button around Wembley Stadium during 2008’s Race of Champions. Rumours he learned everything he knows from Captain Slow remain unconfirmed.
Adam Ferrara (very difficult not to type ‘Ferrari’ there, force of habit) is a renowned petrolhead who ranks the Pagani Zonda F Roadster as his top car. Only, we may assume, because the Hyundai i10 1.2 hasn’t made it to US shores yet. He’s also a stand-up comedian and stars in firefighting drama series Rescue Me.
Rutledge Wood is a race analyst best known for reporting on NASCAR. Think Martin Brundle with a beard, but with no need for the words ‘right turn’ in his lexicon. We’re impressed that he owns a 1953 Plymouth Suburban, and even more impressed that it was given to him by The King himself, Richard Petty. That’s a good friend to have.
It hasn’t been decided yet if the show will air in the UK, but we’ll keep bringing you the details as soon as we can. Watch this space.

Im going to say i have a feeling this will suck. The personalities of Clarkson/Hammond/Mays are what make the show.

I want the real thing. I'll try the US version, but I bet it will suck.
EDIT: I typed a comment on the TopGear blog:
As an American, I protest this move.
I don't want an American Top Gear. I guarantee this will suck and will just be an ad for the car makers here in America.
I want the British TopGear simulcast on BBC America the same night as it is shown in Britain, unedited. That is all the TopGear I need. That way, I won't have to a) download it from some buggy P2P site the night it's shown and b) wait months and months to see reruns on BBC America.
Please stop this madness, TopGear! Give us Americans what we really want--more Clarkson/May/Hammond.
If you must persist in this madness, please keep showing the British TopGear.
Yours truly,
An American TopGear Fan
