As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I was planning to grab some rear wheels off a V coupe since they are the widest OEM V wheel & with a much lower offset than sedan wheels. Wasn't really on the radar anytime soon since they aren't very common & are decently priced when they do pop up for sale.
As always, the V community strikes again & in my local V Facebook page, another member found a set available for a real great price about an hourish away. I missed out on them since they were gone in hours since the price was too good to pass up but to my surprise, I get a msg the next day. The msg was from buddy who snagged them & he msged to apologize for sniping them since he knew I had my eye out for coupe rear wheels. I just lol'd since it really wasn't a big deal & never thought anything of it. This is where the V community really shines, buddy offered to straight up trade the coupe rears for a pair of my wheels since I'm running sedan rears all around. A pair of my wheels would complete his setup since he just wanted an OEM sedan setup for drag radials & had no use for the 19x10's.
Sorry for the short story, just had to share just how great this community is.
Cliff notes:
- snagged a pair of coupe rear wheels for 45 bucks (price to dismount/remount tires)
- no more 15mm spacer in the rear

Yeah getting those wider OEM wheels makes complete sense. I may be in minority but I never felt comfortable with the idea of doing wheel spacers (another point of failure/weakness just to look better/wider stance) so always great when you have an OEM solution!!!
I had 15mm spacers on and even after a short amount of miles they were near impossible to get off...I torqued to spec...I'm a seasoned mod guy...I mean...just a fucking no go for me...settled on slide on 6MM and may or may not have gone 157 with those in Mejico
Anyway, Coupe rears look fucking perfect!
I can still do doughnuts and burnouts in the S2000!
It was basically a purely cost driven decision...which is never good.
I'll get another one or something else with power down the line.
Yea coupe rears w/sedan rears on the front. The coupe rears are on 265's for the winter but I think I can pull off 275's to retain this ride height for the summer, maybe a slight roll if anything.
Before I left home to make the swap, I got the car in the air to make sure the spacers wouldn't be an issue and they came right off..
Do you go sideways a lot?
Because it's frigid and rainy for you maybe the lateral forces didn't do as much for me.
I didn't go cheap either...I think they were eibach.

Winter has turned it up a notch the last little while around here & the V has gotten a few random days of rest. Longest was back to back days during a snow/ice storm & as much as I love the RL, the withdrawals were real..
Despite mother nature wreaking havoc, the parts gathering has been quite consistent for the anticipated spring tear down. Since the last update, I managed to snag a 2.38" upper pulley/hub & a pair of used ported LSA heads. The heads were completely out of left field but considering I can sell my stock heads for the price I paid for them, it was impossible to pass on them.
There are mixed reviews on whether heads are worth it or not since it seems everyone is only concerned with peak horsepower. Usually ported OEM heads may net a 20-30whp gain which is hardly noticeable considering the work involved but the real gains are in the low - midrange, which is exactly what I'm aiming for with the build. The heads came off a V making 775whp with a similar build with the exception of E85 and a stage 3 cam. Gonna have the heads inspected & flowed locally before the install but now aiming for a solid 650-700whp with an abundance of tq early and often..
Now that heads are part of the equation, I decided to ditch the LS9 cam & move up to a Stage 1 cam from GP Tuning (LT1Z) to really take advantage of the heads. I spoke with him & my main concerns were that I want stock manners with little to no lope, want the car to be as unsuspecting as possible with a solid bump in power over the LS9 cam. He agreed that a stage 1 or stage 1+ cam would be perfect for what I'm looking for.
With all that said, the build is coming together real nice & since the heads will be coming off, the lifters will be upgraded as well. Aside from injectors, cam/cam kit/gaskets, there isn't much left for the home stretch.
Also playing with the idea of a ported snout/102mm TB, seems like there are more than a few guys having great success with the eBay 102mm TB. It never ends...
Unless things have changed from my understanding you don't see huge gains from the 102 until after 750/800hp. For your build a ported Mamo LS7 should be plenty TB for the task. Also any reason for going with a 2.38/8.6 vs the more tried and true 2.5/9.1 other than you snagged them used? The 2.5 up top gives more surface contact for the belt and thus less chance of belt slip on the blower.
The Johnson 2110 lifters are great. That is what I am running as well. I would do a valve spring upgrade while you are at it as well.

Of course, I don't NEED it but considering the eBay 102's are going for $150 & a ported snout is a couple hundred bucks, it's hard to not look into it to truly optimize the whole setup.

Sounds like you have done good research. Last time I was looking into it most were saying the 102 wasn't needed till much higher. Your desired powered range and my long term range as well 700/750 range I think is right on the boarderline of either setup being fine. Unless you are doing constant drag strips runs I don't honestly believe one is better than the other. Basically get whichever is cheaper I bet. Hopefully the cheap ebay ones don't have blade issues like the expensive ones did.
Forgot you went with the griptech. You will be fine then. The belt slip issues with 2.38 were from regular non griptech pulleys.

There have been a few hiccups with the eBay 102's but the seller has been very responsive & has put out an updated design which I've yet to see issues with. There's some heavy hitters with 750-800whp & 18psi running them without a hitch. Sure beats 600 for a nick williams version that still has issues..
yeah the nick williams version is ridiculous. I would never advocate going that route.
I went the tried and true GM route since the gains were not that great between the two options and my car was going to be a daily. If traveling and mine fails my intake pipe is the right size and I can probably pick one up at a dealer in stock.
Ran into a 2012ish Gallardo (RWD) Saturday on the way to Niagara Falls. Caught up to him just before a nice tunnel & he proceeded to downshift/slowdown for a tunnel rip. Of course I was like... , this will probably never happen again lol.
While I was mesmerized (car was slammed with an exhaust) he punched it and I hit it right after but he jumped out to a 2-3 car lead right away but that was it, couldn't pull away & it seemed like if there was more room I could of really confused the fuck out of him lol
