strange noise from Acura CSX 2006 wheels
I have a 2006 Acura CSX, about 170,000 km. Recently, there's been a strange noise. At low speeds, less than 50 km/h, there is often a loud humming/squeaking noise coming from the right rear side, almost like the sound that tires make when driving over the grilling of a steel bridge. I recently had the brakes replaced, and the mechanic thought it might have been a rotor problem, but after he reshaped the rotors, the sound continued. Any ideas? Could this be a ball joint issue? Or something else? The sound only began after the rear brakes were replaced, I believe.

Does the sound vary with speed?
To me, any humming noise is a good indicator of being a bad wheel bearing.
I would also check your brake rotor shield to make sure it's not making contact with the rotor itself.

Dang, spoke too soon. Two days after replacing the rotors/brakes, there was a very loud groaning sound coming from the right back wheel. Only happens when starting the car after a rest of a few hours; after a few minutes, the sound goes away. Any ideas? I'll take the car back to the mechanic tomorrow, sigh. At least the brakes are under warranty.
