Im interested in going at least 200K on it, just to see what would happen. The Matrix is also good for 200K, and the Z should be good for at least 150k.
I think high-mileage cars (especially newer ones) are awesome.
Would love to have a job that involves travelling, especially that much.
But... why the Matrix? I can see the Z as the fun car, and the Passat as a very comfortable DD. What do you use the Toyota for?

So, yea, I'm thinking about making some changes to the garage. Already have some ideas about to be in the works (which means I think I will try to get back into an Acura/Honda as a DD, and a SUV Diesel replacement for the Passat - as much as it slightly pains me). I wouldnt get 44 mpgs, but I would still be at or over 30 mpg in 2 cars. I can take all the dirt/gravel roads I want to and turn my attention from buying to modifying cars for the forseeable future.

What a nice fleeting thought. Maximum life expectancy for this thought; 45 days.I use the Matrix as a hauler and some of my work trips. Once, I needed to get a 10 foot ladder to get to the ceiling in my house, and the Matrix made it happen (with the glass hatch open, nonetheless. The Matrix was also going to be my "top of the world" car when I went on my summer trip to Alaska/Canada...but I have had issues trying to find stock parts for it. My plan was really just to use it for this trip, put 10K miles on it (it only has 82K right now), and sell it afterwards.

Humm, that was about 33-34 days. Not quite the record.
Hey OP, I'm just having fun. This thread is entertaining and I'm jealous. Carry on and please keep us posted on your transportation.

Matter of fact, I thought of you and our conversation when I went browsing. Its Acurazine's fault. I missed the rapport of having a car supported by this forum. I've owned more Hondas/Acuras than any other brand. The National Meet did me in. Simultaneously, I love diesel power too, and was very pleased with my VW despite what ppl say about them. Its a delicate balance.
I'm also OCD. Every car in my garage fits a need. When one car is gone, it messes up everything. Cars = an expensive habit.
$43 for an 07?
whoa...I was bitchin' at a local dealer because he didn't want to negotiate the $44995 price on a 2012 S4. I guess I should apologize...LOL
link for the car
I knew I get some flack from you

I've had lots of new and used cars over the years. I was first attracted to this thread by the title car. I was also once seduced by a used red Audi but it took me a whole year and thousands of $$ to realize that that particular pretty face was a gold digger.
Worse part was that my wife had asked me not to buy it due to prior used Audi experience.
Having a company paid auto allowance eases the burden somewhat. So, in summary, please carry on. I will continue to enjoy reading of the thought processes and decisions of you and others. Occasionally I may even interject a comment or two about something you may have said. Please, keep it moving.
As I'm sure you know, lots of people on this board no longer have an Acura. This thread has done fairly well and you even changed cars!

Non-Car pics are in this thread -----> https://acurazine.com/forums/cameras-photography-44/road-trip-66-33-a-825372/ , including the original Arctic Circle trip a couple years ago. See post #34 for this year's trip.

On this trip, I averaged 26 mpg with some stretches hitting 30 mpg. When I took the Subaru that way 3 years ago, I averaged 20 mpg and no better than 24.
The nice thing is that my plan to sell the Matrix seems to be working, as I have a buyer for it and I'll be able to get what I paid for it, including some of the taxes.
