Study: High-End Cars Don't Attract Women

Men, put away those wallets and save your cash, it seems that more expensive cars don't impress the girls, a study commissioned by Top Gear Australia shows.
Men, put away those wallets and save your cash, it seems that more expensive cars don't impress the girls.
And, if you are good looking you needn't bother with a car at all, you'll be just as attractive to the opposite sex without one.
In some surprising findings commissioned by popular SBS TV show Top Gear Australia, researchers measured changes in the brain responses of women towards a range of men depending on the car they drove.
The study tested the reactions to a luxury sports car, a ute, a 4WD, a hotted-up street car and a vintage classic.
The results showed that a man having a mid-life crisis did not impress the ladies with his expensive Porsche, unless he was accompanied by a beautiful young woman.
Money couldn't buy the humble tradesman sex appeal, as he failed to arouse a positive response in any of the vehicles.
The attractiveness of the `average Joe' family man improved dramatically in almost any of the cars, whereas the `good-looking surfer' remained very attractive to women even without a vehicle.
The young `homie' rated better in his hotted-up Nissan Skyline than in the expensive sports cars.
In one of the biggest surprises, the classic MG Roadster was viewed favourably when empty, but failed to impress the minute a man was seen in it.
The experiment, conducted by Neuro Insight, aimed to explore the argument, "does the car maketh the man".
"Pretty much every car made the family guy look better", Peter Pynta from Neuro Insight said.
But he had this advice for the good-looking guys.
"If you're a good looking bloke, don't even worry about it," he said.
The study will appear on Top Gear Australia on Monday 22 June 22.

what if you're ugly?
yeah yeah, women are powered by purely vile motives, we already knew that. The fact is, the biggest chick magnet you can have is a hot chick. True story.

A good friend of mine told me once how she determines the character of a man in relation to his vehicle. Except for pickup trucks (She doesn't like those who drive trucks, at least those in hick town Edmonton), she rates a man's character by how clean and maintained his car is. Regardless of brand, style, or age, if it's obviously cared for and maintained, she considers him to be of good character. It it's dirty and uncared for, she considers the guy to be uncaring and unsupportive.

so i shouldn't have purchased the boxster?
I may end up giving that one to the wifey since she really enjoys driving it. I only care what she thinks of me in my cars, if it turns her on then i am a-ok with that.

I would further define other guys to be: teenage boys. When I had my S2000 I had more comments from teenagers then any other group, a few women turned their head, but I'd like to credit me with that and not the car That said, the car certainly didn't land me any girls, in fact the girl I was seeing didn't really like it - if it wasn't a convertible I think she would have down right hated it.

I shoot people
actually a long time ago... I read somewhere about another study that showed people (in general) will give you more respect if you're physically fit with a "normal" car than people driving expensive cars but fat...

Women?
A car like this will give you more pleasure then any woman could. + If you cant get a girl in that car for an extra 100k Lamborghini will lend you the one standing behind the car.

If you need a car to get laid, you are a sad, sad man.

Back in HS, I got a new car - a 90 Probe, and thought I was the shit. Dumped my girlfriend because of some petty shit.
Karma bit my ass, and I didn't have another lady friend for over two years.

It's not the expensive car that attacts the women.....it's the $$$$$$$$$ in the bank account that allows you to buy such a car.......and the position you have in life (ie the power) that attracts the ladies.
Women love power and $$$$.

The thing women love more than anything else in the world is showing up other women. Having a man with money and power just allows them to do the thing they love the most.

Don't get me wrong, a nice car is a nice car. But, a man drawing confidence from it? Wrong source. A guy is confident in his abilities, his job, his upbringing, his manners, his personality...not some material object.

Disagree. If a guy needs a nice car to be confident, I think he's over-compensating.

Most already had power, $$$$, & confidence prior to the supercar.

Wow, expensive cars DON'T attract women?
On what continent? Australia? Someone needs to replicate the "study" in the U.S. Preferably in a large metro like the land of Cleve.....
