This story reminds me of a similar occurrence that benefited my father. When he was a teenager he bought a 65 Impala from a poor old lady. The ladies car was stolen months ago and returned to her literally pimped out. It was painted a plum purple two tone. Had wire wheels with white walled tires and was chromed out. The steering wheel was replaced with some funky small steering wheel and had huge fuzzy dice placed over the rear view mirror. To top it off, you might have guessed it.. they installed hydraulics.
My father's one of the most conservative guys I know so I literally lol'd when he told me this story. He did grow up in East LA and was good friends with the founders of the Imperials CC back in the day though. At one point my father owned 5 or 6 cars when he was a young man including an Austin Healey which he thought was a total POS, he regrets selling it now.
