Wow the quality of their carbon parts is absolutely amazing. Thanks for the link. Incredible all the stuff they make for the Corvette in carbon. Would love to have a company that made parts like that for any car I have. Wonder if they would make anything for the CTSV. Would love a full carbon dash kit and stearing wheel.

Looking good man One of my friends got the C7 stingray as soon as they got released, and I was fortunate enough to get to take it out for a spin. It truly is an amazing car! He then traded up for a Z06 not long afterwards, I still think it's one of the best bangs for your buck!

^^^ I'm actually having another Vendor look into making the Carbon Fiber seat parts for me. He's a LOT cheaper, but has not done the seat parts before. Also, all of the Carbon Fiber parts are a "core exchange". So when I get their parts in, I swap out my OEM pieces and send them back to the Vendor to get money back!

Have all your previous parts though come from the same company that you posted that makes those seat backs? If you only been using that company even if they cost more I would want to stick with them so everything matches.

The Carbon Fiber pieces come mainly from two Vendors. Apsis USA is the main Vendor. For a pair of set backs (with accessories), I could buy TWO sets of Competition Seats. True, they wouldn't have the Carbon Fiber seat backs on the Comp Seats, but the openings at the top of the seats come in Carbon Fiber.

The other Vendor, AutoDynamicsWest, makes great pieces of Carbon Fiber too. They don't have the markup of Apsis USA. But they also do not have the variety of Carbon Fiber pieces available either. But...my guy at Auto Dynamics West is getting me a quote on the seat backs and accessories as we speak! I hope to get a price quote from him maybe this week.....stay tuned.

Well perfect it seems that Apsis USA makes carbon back for the competition seats. That way you can upgrade to competition seats and still get carbon backs

Yes, they make the Carbon Fiber seats for both the GT and Competition seats. There is actually a conversion you can do to GT seats to make the upper part a Competition Seat. Actually, the GT seats are more comfortable!

I'm still hoping to hear back this week about pricing from Auto Dynamics West.

OK, Auto Dynamics West gave me a price that was not better than Apsis USA. And Apsis USA made me a terrific deal on the Carbon Fiber seats. At first, I walked a way from all of the seat opportunities. But I slept on it and decided to go ahead and take the plunge and order the Carbon Fiber seats. They should be here in a week or two....

Is carbon fiber, carbon fiber?...or does it vary in appearance at all from one mfr to the next?

Brian, it doesn't vary that much. All of the Vendors have selected their Carbon Fiber to match the OEM pieces from GM, like the dash. So the weave is very consistent. I've never had a problem with aftermarket pieces matching the other stuff I already have.

There are different Carbon Fiber weaves. For example, Lamborghini and Ferrari use different weaves from one another. So there is more than one style available on the market.

Has it lost it's Pizzazz at all? I often wondered if you would jump over to a Z06 once the depreciation took a bite out...I would presume almost all your CF would transfer right over!

Jeremy, really everything that could be converted to Carbon Fiber is now done or will be now done (with the seats). My Stingray will be 5 years old on September 19th. It has 31,000+ miles on it. I'm still as excited about this car as the day I picked it up!!!

Just like the Type S, now just drive it and enjoy it some more. You're right-almost all the exterior and interior Carbon Fiber would transfer over. But the 2015-2018 Z06's had cooling issues, so I'm just going to stick with this baby......

While I'm waiting for the Carbon Fiber seat backs to arrive, I did my own little mod FOR the car, not TO the car!

This tool chest by Sonic is available for an outrageous amount of money.....

Well, I already have a Craftsman tool chest about this size. Plus, I have a Fathead C7 Crossed Flags too! So here's what I did to my tool chest.....

How do you like my handiwork?

I knew you couldn't resist in the end. I think this will really complete the interior look you have worked so hard on.

Well, the seat backs came in Friday. But they were finished in gloss, not matte finish. Now they have to be sent back to Taiwan and refinished......

I'm disappointed, to say the least.

Negative. I still see some non-CF surface areas on that interior. I want every square inch to be covered/converted into CF, has to be done so that you can't find a single area without CF! World first fully carbon interior C7!? I think it can be done....

Steve, gorgeous ride as always. Glad you stuck with it for so long in this day and age of people switching out cars like underwear. Hope to see it in person if I'm ever back in my old stomping grounds of KC.

take a 3M pad to the gloss finish, Steven...it'll matte it up in no time.
I guess it just won't match? I feel like gloss would actually probably look good.

That is a bummer. Also not sure I would want them refinished but rather an entire new set made. I would be worried they could be messed up being refinished and not look as good. I know you are paying a pretty penny for them I would want them done right.

It can probably be done-I've seen Lamborghini do it. But there is a LOT of nice Napa Leather in this C7 interior. I'm apt to not replace Napa Leather, just plastic!

LOL....That's an option, J-just not a great option. Actually, I've seen a gloss finish to these before-it looks great. But everything else in the car is a matte finish, so I have to keep going.

I actually discussed that with the Vendor. He promised to inspect closely before shipping them to me. If I'm not happy-back they go!

I had the HARDEST time with getting my Milltek exhaust through customs! It turns out there was some weird duty I had to pay to clear it to be released to UPS. Odd business that international shipping stuff...

Finally.....they're here and they're installed!

Here is the backstory.......

I ordered the Carbon Fiber seat backs, side bolsters, air bag covers and seat belt guides in July. OEM parts were sent to Taiwan to be Carbon Fibered. They came back in a gloss finish, not a matte finish, which is what I needed. So they were sent back to Taiwan to be redone. They got stuck in Customs for over a month! Apsis USA finally told FedEx to get them back from Customs and send them back to their office in NY. In the mean time, Apsis USA purchased another set of seat backs (Apsis USA already had everything else but the seat backs in stock). Those were re-shipped to Taiwan with other product that was going in to be Carbon Fibered.

They finally arrived December 21st.....AFTER I've already stored the Corvette for the Winter! I pulled the Corvette out of Anil's garage and took it to the dealership yesterday. Here are the results.......

These are crappy iPhone pictures-it was 5:15pm and the sun was already down. So it was difficult to get good shots. The Corvette went back into hibernation immediately. I'll get better shots in warmer weather. But you get the idea.....

Even with phone pics those look amazing. So glad to see you did them and got the matte finish to match the rest of the interior. Just beautiful! Well done and worth the wait!

I think at this time it's basically legally required for Steve to change his middle name to "CarbonFiber"

Rick, there is a LOT more available. I just don't want to "junk" up the look of the car. I've always wanted the car to look aggressive, but classy. Hopefully I've achieved that....
