As I read the following, I was thinking of Steven's new Vette, particularly since I was online this morning building yet another Stingray. For those that saw the Lingenfelter Vette pass by the speed trap at 200 mph, check this out:

You are driving a new $140,000 Lingenfelter twin-turbo powered Corvette Z-06. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged and ready to ‘launch’ down a quarter-mile s trip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the ’Vette hard, on up through the gears and blast across the starting line and pass the dragster at an honest 200 MPH. The ‘tree’ goes green for both of you at that exact instant. The dragster departs and starts after you. You keep your foot buried hard to the floor, and suddenly you hear an incredibly brutally screaming whine that sears and pummels your eardrums and within a mere 3 seconds the dragster effortlessly catches and passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter-mile away from where you just passed him. Think about it—from a standing start, the dragster had spotted you 200 MPH and it not only caught, but nearly blasted you off the planet when he passed you within a mere 1320 foot long race.

^^^damn theory of relativity strikes again.

Funny you post that...I've been thinking about this sort of thing lately. With the recent purchase of the S2000, I find that I'm happy, car has enough GO for daily driving and to get me in trouble, but judging by today's numbers and expectations, most would remain unimpressed. I thought about the kinda cars my Dad rants and raves about driving in the Swiss mountains back in the 60's and the fact that they were ALL likely sub 60HP cars. Can you imagine bringing someone from the past to sit in the seat of an econobox 200 HP Hyundai and watching them tell you how the car was absolutely not safe and way too much power to ever be practical.

Perception, ya.

I was thinking about it in the context of a Ferrari 308 raffle I bought tickets for. 0-60 mph times in that thing makes it slower than a Toyota minivan.

ROFL....i read the dragster story a few weeks back (around the NHRA racing time)....i knew they were wicked quick but when they put it the way they did, I was amazed !!!

growing up back in India, I used to drive a Maruti 1000....had a 4cylinder 1000 cc engine with an output of 100HP LOL....ohh it was fun, but when I came to US, the first car I drove was my uncle's BMW 325 ci and was like "holy fawk" ....but again that was years back....

talking about HP, the Z06 version of the C7 will have 620hp and 650tq out of a SC V8....back in the days even the Viper with a massive V10 was not even close to the figures....

Finally.....I have a REAL Tracking Number from UPS.

Arrival is set for Friday on the flat-bottomed steering wheel. Installation is set for 7:30am on Saturday.

Also, the Stingray hood liner gets installed on Saturday.

Wow, that's gorgeous!

Well, in reference to power, my wake up call was when I'd look at my RSX with 210 HP out of 2 liters...then I'd see the stats for old muscles cars and see wow...6.5 liter engines, OMG...how much HP...oh, only 185 ...but then, that torque.

The S2000 is pretty much the only drop back in HP I've had in the line of cars I've continually upgraded from. BUT, on days when I don't drive it, I find myself wishing I were.

I'm saying that after spending some quality time with Anil, the stitching may end up brown. That's what I'm saying.

Flat bottomed steering wheel installed!

Alright-the steering wheel in installed!

The white stitching matches the rest of the interior. It looks great (as you can see!).

It's a lot beefier and thicker than the OEM wheel. Plus, I finally got the Stingray hood liner installed too.

I'm very happy with the steering wheel-it goes perfectly with the rest of the interior.

Like the steering wheel. I just wish Chevy hadn't put that huge, silver, plastic piece around the airbag. Any chance it can be replaced with a CF piece?

Bingo! I just went back and looked at the stock wheel and I do like the new wheel but hate the plastic, silver piece. Carbon fiber would complete that, wonder if they make it. Worse comes to worse, you could use that high quality carbon sticker stuff (forget the name but looks pretty awesome).

Another guy who makes these flat bottom steering wheels also make the piece in Carbon Fiber. He wanted to charge me $350 more-just for the steering wheel. I didn't even ask about the Carbon Fiber piece......

I'm sure you've seen this but the horn completes it

Edit - $645 for the horn

wrap it in carbon

For the same reason that he started dating Mexican chicks...he's only really interested in the flat bottom. Especially at the markup for the additional features. I love how it feels and after driving the Audi, I can see why...it's nice to always KNOW where your bottom is.

1stGen, that is a Carravagio steering wheel. He is the one that quoted me $350 over the price of the steering wheel I now have.

I do not like, at all, the center cap in that first picture. Also, you'll notice a small piece that juts out on the outside bottom of the steering wheel. I do not like that either. That's another reason why I went with the steering wheel I purchased. I bought this wheel from www.TheAADouble.com.

I don't know what the cost of the carbon fiber insert would be (from the 2nd picture). I did not ask for a quote on the carbon fiber part. It's nice though....

But I'm done with the steering wheel. It was expensive-more than I really wanted or needed to spend. But I love it, it's exactly what I wanted. And by the way, I like the stitching too. The color matched the rest of the stitching on the interior of my Stingray.

Done!....................
