She doesn't like how big it feels and how heavy it rides. I told her the 3.6 motor will make a difference to the 3.0 we have, but it's not enough for her. She's done with the Caddy she said.

I got the Prius cause it was a cheap ass lease...and now the highlander...sometimes the steal of a deal wins.

I inquired about a car with a Lighting Package. Of course he has plenty with a black interior, but only one with a lighter interior, and it isn't even much lighter than black.

It's called Pebble Grey Metallic with the Mocha Leather Interior. The seats are a darker brown, carpet and dash is black. The Pebble Grey looks like a grey with a tint of brown in it.

It has Premium 1 Package, Full Leather Seating Package, Multimedia Package, Lighting Package, AMG Styling Package, harmon/kardon sound system and heated seats, but no Keyless Go. MSRP is $53,895

The Palladium Silver car I'm considering has the Almond/Mocha MB Tex (synthetic mataerial, which doesn't matter to me), Premium 1 Package, Multimedia Package, Heated Front Seats and Keyless Go. MSRP $48,355

Even with the Pebble Grey car being over $5k more expensive, it's STILL cheaper than what I was paying for the SRX. BUT i'd rather have Keyless Go over Lighting Package.

[edit] just spoke to the dealer, someone took a deposit on the Palladium Silver car.

BUT he has a Black/Almond car that had both Keyless Go and Lighting Package. I've never owned a black exterior car because I always would stay away from them, I never thought I would ever get a Black car because of how much of a PITA they are to keep clean, especially being her car, she keeps the interior clean, but never washes the car, she leaves that for me to do. He just e-mailed me the specs:

Black Exterior/Almond Mocha MB Tex - Premium 1 Package, Multimedia package, Lighting Package, 20" Appearance Package, Heated Seats and Keyless Go. MSRP $49,915

Do I bite the bullet and just get a black car for once in my life? Maybe it won't be as bad as I think it is?

Will it be kept in a garage? That will make a difference.

Black is a lot of work to keep clean and looking great. After owning one for eight years, I think I will never own a DD in black again.

Unfortunately, no. It's kept on the street...

Don't think that's a problem for me. We had her SRX for 18 months, was about to take it in for it's second service until this happened, I paid nothing but the monthly payment, insurance, gas and tolls.
That's why I said the second part. Though, I will admit I've never leased a car before (always bought), so I'm not all that familiar with how all those costs shake out.

Like it's been said, unless you're going to be willing to constantly work at keeping a black car clean, they aren't worth the hassle. Even though they look amazing when they are clean, by the end of the first few months you will hate the black paint. Especially since you said it's street parking, you honestly will wash it, and 30 minutes later you'll have a fine layer of dirt already back.

If its a good price, and only a two year lease, id jump on a black car. at least you can say you did it, and you will never go back if its a total PITA

I bought my car in black because the deal was too good to pass up. sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Good luck in whatever you pick.

It was not 'done improperly' as your post implies; it was loaded according to the maximum capacity the car was advertised as having. At that weight, the handling was so poor that they chose not to test it before reducing the weight by 220lbs. At that point it was 220lbs under Chrysler's registered limits. That's how it was loaded in the videos.

Apparently the tests were performed again with cooperation from Chrysler at a lower loading, and while the wheels did not leave the ground, tires still de-beaded.

Reread the article posted earlier troll. It was loaded BEYOND capacity. And Chrysler has since reworked the programming. And there haven't been problems or debeading since.

Did you go a month w/o washing any of them?

I tend to stick to grey metallics on her cars for that reason. Oh well, I'll deal! I ever thought I would want another white car, and look at my Mini!

I pulled the trigger on the black one....I can pick it up probably on Monday...But the dealer can't fill it up because there's no gas.

The jeep is a beater...it almost never gets washed...looks so ghetto right now lol.

The prius...my wife almost never took the time to wash it...so, when I got the chance I'd get it washed...once every few months...made it look good again.

My challenger I only handwash myself (and I can only do that at my inlays)...and it lives in the garage...so it goes very very very long periods without a bath...it just gets a dust layer...Its due for another detail though.

California car duster and quick detailer will keep her looking good between washes.

She didn't test drive it. I don't know why she always fears it. Before getting the SRX, we test drove the GLK, but I drove it. When I asked her if she wanted to drive it, she said no, it wasn't necessary, she had a good idea of how it rode being in the passenger seat. Same thing goes for the SRX, a friend of mine had one, and he let me drive it. I asked her if she wanted to drive it and she said no. The SRX only won it out last time because she was able to get it in the color she wanted. At the time the GLK I was offered (If I remember correctly) was about $15/month less than the SRX, but the SRX won it out because it had everything she wanted, especially the option of having a lighter interior. The GLK at the time was silver with a black interior. The black interior was the straw that broke the camels back last time around. I just find it so ironic how back then, she was willing to pay more to have a car with a lighter interior in a different car and passed on the GLK which was the better deal, while this time around we're going with the GLK once again, but with the lighter interior that she desires.

FWIW, this was the thread last year about the discussion between the many cars we were bouncing between: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=819288&page=2

...only thing affecting cars in North Jersey is the lack of open gas stations.

Congratulations on the new acquisition!!!

As far as black cars go (backtracking a bit):

my 2012 MDX Tech is black, having replaced a black 2009 MDX and my black 12 Accord replaced my black 07 Accord. Safe to say that whatever I get next will be black as well.

I actually love the GLK, but it gets pricey quick. The interior on the 2013's is frickin awesome.
And no, i wouldn't even though i know it's a better vehicle

Congrats on the new ride. I am sorry you had to go through this in the first place. While we felt the effects of Sandy here in Ohio, it was nothing like the floods you guys had or what happened in NJ. I would have chosen the new RDX, it's pretty impressive, but the GLK is a looker and from from I hear from one of my colleagues who has one, she loves the handling.

I actually saw one of those in person a couple of weeks ago in NYC. Excluding the RS6 Avant, I can't imagine a wagon that I'd rather have.

For one thing, it's more expensive. Other than that, she pretty much agrees with Gfaze's comment. I personally like it, but she does not.

Prestige MB in Paramus? That's the only dealer in north NJ I can think of (unless of course you would get the car from somewhere else). But their building looks amazing anyway, especially with an SLS usually parked in the showroom when I would drive past
