Spotted a clean GT40 (pics inside)
I wasn't too exactly sure whether or not it was a kit car because I've never seen a real life GT40 before, but lo-and-behold, on my way to work yesterday I spotted this beautiful GT40. Kit car or not, it's
Wish I took more pics... I just took a couple of quick ones from inside my car. The engine bay was especially bad ass, but I didn't have time to park it and take a closer shot. The paint was soooo shiny, and the ITBs were just beautiful, like harmonious pipes capable of producing heavenly orchestras.

Yeah, if it was a Ford GT I would have been and likely wouldn't have taken any pictures. However, at first glance, I saw that it was quite smaller than the new Ford GT I saw at an auto show, and the tail was different, AND the final confirmation - I saw GT40 along the doorsill, which made my jaw drop and reach for my phone to snap a couple of quick pics. I'm not knocking the Ford GT or anything, but it pales in comparison to the GT40 IMO. e.g., I would give my right nut for a GT, but I would give my left nut and my pinky for a GT40.
If only I had some kind of hope that the GT40 would still be in that same parking lot, I would take the 30+ min. drive back up to Fremont to find and talk to the owner and hopefully snap a few more proper pics, interior and all, and dare I say, ask for a ride.
I remember seeing rivet-like bolts or something on the windows/Lexan and on the fog light covers. If you look closely you can see them. Still, kit car or not it was simply stunning to behold. Those tires and rims blew me away too, and the lip those rears > 99.99% of those "VIP" cars out there.
The ITBs.... my god they were just spectacular. They looked so polished that I wanted to glance at them to see if I had any zits on my face. It makes me want to use big words and sophisticated linguistics to describe it. I really regret not taking several dozen more pics... I would have gladly been late for work for that opportunity. Maybe next time I'll spot a Mk. II or dare I say, a Mk. III!
I've already seen my fair share of F355s, 360s (a plenty), Diablos, F430s, 911 Turbos, GT3s and the like, but the GT40 is a rare beast indeed. It was like finding a unicorn at first. I still can't believe that I caught one out of nowhere. The first real thing that I've seen in real life, period. I've never even seen one at a car show before. I almost don't want to believe that its a replica, I mean hey, who wouldn't get excited about really nice, fake boobs? As long as it looks like it was a nice job, right?
BTW, is Volly banned yet? Heretic.

The owner of the company I work at has a black one with no stickers or strips - extremely clean. He's had the supercharger upgraded by Whipple and Ford Factory came out and tuned it. They raised his redline by 500rpm and increased his speed limiter to over 250mph. He dyno his at 935HP and that's on 91 octane while still being CA smog legal. Whipple told him they could easily tune him to 1050HP if he was willing to use 110 octane fuel.
He said that he comes out of 2nd gear around 110mph and it gets scarry when the tires break loose and smoke at that speed.

The GT40 is one of my all time favorite cars....The new GT just modernizes the technology in a similar vintage look. Love 'em both! Think about it...40" from the ground (GT40).....low enough?
