Spotted. Chevy Volt testing in Colorado.
For the life of me i cant think of what it is. I saw it in Frisco over the weekend while skiing. There were about 5 of them at the same hotel as me coming and going all hours of the day
All i had was my cell phone or i would have tried for better shots. The car was dead silent running thru the parking lot and scooted pretty good puling into traffic.

Thats the Chevy Volt. Chevys plug in hybrid car. Looks like their doing some testing on them with the covering up of certain aspects of the car so you get the gist of the car.
All in all though it looks like a Prius...

I like the Volt a lot. I think it's a good base and will work well for many commuters.
If I wanted an "eco" car, this would be the one I'd buy.

^ Interesting. I'd go with the CR-Z over the Volt, mainly because it'll be a sporty "eco" car, but obviously it will lack the room of the Volt.
It's crazy to think about how long this car has been talked about and now it's finally testing and nearly on the road. Can't wait to see if it ever lives up to the years of hype.

Wow, that was pretty neat to see 5 test Volts. Hope it does well, it may revolutionize GM from a sedan outlook.

In any case the CR-Z better be quite a bit cheaper than the Insight. But the main purpose of a hybrid would be to offer a commuter vehicle, which more often adds a significant increase in fuel economy and with less emphasis, more power Another thing to add value to the hybrid equation is its usefulness in saving people money if they want to go on long trips with the family.... which probably isn't happening in a CR-Z.
^that was longer than I expected anyways I think the only thing the CR-Z has going for it is that its quite small, which will increase its agility and it has a 6-speed manual option. The question now is, will that be enough to convince consumers to buy the CR-Z? It's anything but quick, and it's actually the least fuel efficient out of the three despite being the smallest.
If I ever did get a hybrid (God forbid) it would probably be an Insight over any of the three.... unless by some miraculous act the CR-Z manages to be an even bigger overachiever than the Insight is (when it comes to EPA vs actual mileage). If the CR-Z is even cheaper still, then I'd maybe prefer it.

It maybe very efficient in gas mileage or whatnot, but I would never own a hybrid car.
If you want tot save gas money, get those VW diesels.

Funny that they are still covering up the car considering it's been shown and talked about for so long, yet the official photo's were leaked on the web months ago. I like it, but it's going to be expensive (IIRC, upper $30k/lower $40k before incentives).
As for the CR-Z pricing, I believe it's going to be above the Insight, most probably a low $20k car..

I don't know... I don't think the CR-Z deserves all the bashing it gets from not just folks on AZ, but from readers, enthusiasts and bloggers alike. Still, it's hard to justify choosing the CR-Z over, say, the Insight or even the Prius. The latter two both offer more versatility thanks to the extra size and extra seating. I don't remember the actual pricing of the aforementioned hybrids but I'm going to assume pricing wise, from cheapest to most expensive, it would be CR-Z, Insight, and then the Prius, then probably the Volt, depending on the incentives and rebates they can scrounge up.

The Volt will just be another failure. The government will dump more money into GM and the Volt, claiming it's too big to let fail and that our future depends on it.
I sure as hell don't see a reasonable consumer in their right mind paying $40,000 for one, minus $7,500 electric hybrid tax credit.

For a family eco car the CR-Z is absolutely out of question, but for someone without kids who is looking for an economical fun to drive commuter car the CR-Z would be a great fit. I bet people will experience better mpgs than expected and although by the numbers it won't be "fast", it will feel quick and nimble just like the CRX was even though it was barely making 100hp. Take it from a former CRX Si owner, that car was by far the most entertaining car to drive while having the least impact on the wallet out of any car I've owned. If the CR-Z can give even half of the satisfaction the CRX gave, sign me up. Oh and it's retail is going to be around $25k, so around the cost of a Prius, less than a Volt yet more than an Insight. Again, the point is the CR-Z is going to be 100x more fun to drive than any of these other "family" eco cars are, so that's the draw for me to it.

See the cool thing is that all those people that mocked the CRX when it first came out ate their words later when the car became a huge hit and was import car of the year... twice. It's all good. I love being the underdog lol.

I bet it sells well. The same people who had to have the first Prius will push and shove to be at the front of the line.

I think it would be awesome to be able to drive to work and back, and not have to use a drop of gas. Plug it in when I get home, unplug it in the morning, and do it all over again.

I wonder how long a tank of gas can sit in that car and not go stale? I know small engines (ie. lawnmowers) have a problems with old fuel.

And the point of this video is? I said it should feel quick and nimble like the CRX did. How exactly does this video contrast that? I can't tell how it feels in the drivers seat from watching a Youtube video of a pre-production car going around a race track. Can you? Have you ever seen a video of a stock CRX Si going around this same track to compare? Have you ever even driven a CRX before?

I loved the CRX, and was excited about the CRZ when I heard it's coming out...But the prototype shown sort of let me down a little. I'd have to see it in person to be convinced that it could be something to consider. The one thing I hate the most is the overhang beyond the front wheels. Same thing goes for the FIT...That overhang drives me nuts..
