Sponsorships
Whos dick do I have to suck to get sponsored?
Im set to be taking delivery of a new car in the next few weeks. Since the car is new to the market and Im one of the few lucky ones to get the car before the general public, the thought of sponsors popped into my head.
The car in question is a Scion FR-S. This car has been praised by nearly every magazine/blog that has tested it. The market is going to be huge, and the sooner a company can break into it, the better.
Since this car won't be my daily driver, it doesn't bother me if a company has it for a week or so for development purposes.
I've already contacted a supplier that is local to me, but I was curious - what should I be doing to get my car/myself out there and get sponsors?

Write up a proposal on the items you would like for the car then approach a vendor. Must mention what you plan to do with the car as well, tracking, auto shows, meets, etc...
Also it helps a lot if you are an active member on a forum. They see it as a way of advertisement as they know you will put up reviews of the products.
In most cases, dont expect things to be free but you can get a decent discount if a vendor thinks you are worth the investment.

Thanks! I do plan on tracking the car, but not really competitively (just the local auto-x and maybe a track day here and there). The car will make it out to car shows up and down the East Coast.
Im on a few of the FR-S/BRZ forums, but not exactly active. Its a new realm of tuning for me (boxer engine, RWD, macpherson suspension) so Im just taking in as much info as I possibly can.

I think I would rather get a BRZ over the FR-S, mostly because of the extra features you'll be able to get in it over the FR-S. I considered it, though I don't think it would make a good DD for me. Haven't counted it out yet, though..
I do find it funny that Scion chose to put an emblem on the side of the car touting the boxer configuration, an engine that is clearly the mastery of Subaru, while the Suby does w/o it. Interesting..

The FR-S wont be a daily, so spending the additional $3k on the Premium model isnt worth it to me. Plus, after seeing both cars in person, I prefer the FR-S front bumper to the BRZ as it is the same as the Toyota 86, and I do plan on swapping the badges out for the Toyota badges.
If you go through the entire car, you'll see Subaru branding all over the place. It really is a Subaru, just with Toyota backing it financially (they are part owners of Subaru IIRC).
If this were to be a daily driver replacement for me, then Id absolutely get the BRZ Premium. But its a bit much for a weekend / project car.

i'll sponsor free dents as long as i get to drive it. lol.
I would just shoot every company emails saying that you are looking for sponsors and give them a detailed description of what you have in mind/plans.
