Ok.....That's why BMWs come with a rechargeable flashlight in the glovebox etc.... I don't remember one in my TL.....Not all BMWs cost an arm and a leg after 6 years, it all depends on how well they are maintained as with all cars.

Will I ever own a German car? Only if I either won one, or get an AMG.

Acura doesn't build ANYTHING in the TL. All the tech is outsourced. Basically comes down to a great engine, and Accord platform.
New does not mean better.

Yep, was all set to get the 6sp TL, BUT....BIG $$$ made me look at the rest of the market....thats how I found this 6 year old 540 6 sp, 30k miles ...etc etc ( I wont gush about the bimmer....it gets people all rowled)
Anyway, I must say, OMG, this car drinks the fuel!!!! HAAA I suppose my right foot has something to do with it...hehehe
The on board computer says I am getting 30mpg ... HAAA I DONT THINK SO!!!
I enjoy the feedback - both negative and postive - from this thread, keep it coming.
PS: have joined two BMW 5-series forums and its interesting, but, I'm scared...these guys either have too much money, or none. Not sure what to think ... yet.

cheese $$$
dont forget to do the conversion from US dollar to CDN dollar....
I would say that $25,000 cdn is about $19,000 US.....soooo. I am pleased with the price. ONE other think you guys dont need to be concerned about is WINTER!!! Up here the winters are very hard on cars....cold starting (anywhere from -10 F to 10 F)...the road SALT!!! Very bad stuff!!!
The 540 that I got has never seen winter or tasted SALT....IMO its worth a premium price, also the car only has 30000 miles on it.....MINT!!!
So there you have it....cheers

Good choice, Awesome vehicle...although I would take 5er over TL anyday, I don't know in this case. We're comparing 6 year old car vs new. Tough one...
The 04 TL, to my surprise was world's appart from previous gen TL. Everything seemed tighter inside and the handling was much better as well. Power, is great too but par with everything in its class.
I'm a torque freak so I probably would have gone the V8 route but having owned 2 540s, man I hope you got a certified one. Yes, your car WILL go into Service for one thing or another, at around 50K, inside door handles go, 60K coolant reservoir goes, 75-80K CATS go. Pretty much happens to 70% of em. If you can overlook all those, you'll be ok. Maintenace, I dont know how much it is since BMW gave free everything on mine.
Good luck with your car and don't race E55's

I've been getting emails about offers on the new TL (RL, TSX) etc about once a week now... They are available, but I've yet to see an 09 TL on the road yet. I'm not sure if it's the styling or current economic climate that is preventing us from seeing 'em on the road

So you're wondering if the 08 TL had the Power Plenum grille? What cave have you been hiding in the last 6 months? I thought the infamous Power Plenum was common knowledge.
So no the 08 did not have the awful grille. That began on the 09 TSX, TL and RL.
