Some people will surprise you
I went to the grocery store late last night, came back to this:
Knowing there's a ton of shitbags out there, my knee-jerk reaction was this was the worst case scenario: Hit and run, no witnesses (none that would come forward) my insurance would have to cover it, my premiums would go up, etc. However it wasn't until I hopped in my car that I saw the person actually left a note!
It was a woman driver BUT she admitted 100% fault with it in the note, left her phone number. I called her the next day and she was more upset about it than I was, it seems. She again took all the blame, gave me her insurance info. Hopefully get this crap taken care of by the end of the week. I hate driving a car with a gash in it like this.
Iunno, just felt like sharing, I guess. It's just kinda pathetic how in this world my first reaction was that it was a hit and run, if the person was caught they'd try to argue that I was parked crooked, I wasn't pulled all the way into the space, and that this would just get ugly for a long time. Yet people exhibiting this kind of responsibility just blindsides you.
However this is following all the times people dent, ding, scratch my car at the grocery store (not the same store) and don't do shit. So I guess I was rightfully biased.

Yeah I know kinda stupid to make a thread about this. This is probably day in, day out for the majority of you but it just surprised me is all. It would have been pretty easy for this person to take off or just fight it. After hearing all the bs others have to go through with insurance companies, other drivers' ins. was definitely glad they fessed up
fwiw the rear piece there is cracked, too. Not just paint scraping off.

Last spring we were in a parking lot for a golf event and I parked next to a nice Mustang Convertible. It was probably a 2006-2008, but it was in mint condition. You can tell the owner took pride in it. He parked in an end spot, near the curb so he only had one car parked near him, etc.
I backed into the spot next to him, opened my door... put my foot on the bottom to hold it so it didn't swing open, then it happened. Gust of wind caught the door and swung it open... bam... right into his door. Left a nice 1" ding with some paint. I moved my truck to another spot so it wasn't blatenly obvious (in case he was a rager who wanted revenge), but I walked back to his car, wrote a note with my info, and told him to get back to me.
He emailed me the next day, thanked me for leaving the note, and I sent him to my PDR guy to have it fixed on my dime. He emailed me again 3 days later letting me know it was fixed and you could never tell it happened. He thanked me so many times you'd almost think I was doing him a favor for no reason. I apologized again and that was that... but he was very thankful I left a note.
Of course I didn't make a thread about it at the time

What sucks is that we have to make threads when people actually behave the way they are supposed to in society.
The fact these kinds of threads are rare compared to the typical hit and run threads is what is really sad.
Glad she left a note.

Last year i had to leave a note on someones car. Before i could get around the vehicle to get my son out, He grabbed the door handle and started to push the door open and the wind caught it (i usually try to always park nose into the wind so that this type of thing doesnt happen to my car). I left my info/business card so that he/she could contact me and we could get it taken care of. The Lady called me back and thanked me for leaving the info and to not worry about it

I put a whole bunch of scratches and dings on an "Infinity" G in the town next to mine and made it look like it was from them pulling in and out of their garage. They never found out. I think the guy and his family moved to England.

When I had a 3G TL back in the day, I KO-ed a side mirror on this street parked Toyota Prius. I was driving like a jackass with 2 of my friends in my car.
I left a note and paid for the new side mirror. Didn't know it was almost 400 bucks to replace though. Can't remember how much it was exactly but pretty hefty.
But yeah, it really is kinda sad to see a thread like this.

My wife got a note with no name and a bad phone number when someone scraped the bumper on the minivan a few months ago.
I never heard from anyone about that car/damage.
