So VW's W12 supercar and its new SUV got official names
We all thought that VW's SUV would be called Colorado. After all VW almost sued...was it...GM when they tried to name one of their trucks Colorado. Well not any more. The SUV will be called
TUAREG
This comes from a tribe's name at the Sahara desert.
Now remember the W12 super car? VW was contemplating if they will produce it for a long time. Here is a photo:
This car got the green light from mgt and a name. The name is:
NARDO
I have no idea what that means. VW though does not know how many they will produce.

Isn't the D1 going to be called the Phaeton or something like that?
IMO it would be better if they just left it as D1. Nardo doesn't sound too bad. Tuareg is flat out horrible.

Besides being the name of a people, "Tuareg" is also the name of an endurance rally.
"Nardo" is the name of a banked, circular test track in Italy used for setting world speed records.

I agree with your comments though.

Nardo is a hot name.
Too bad that at 300k... nobody will buy one!
and uhh... wtf... from Colorado to Tuareg!?!?
they should just call it Baby Cayenne.
and lets not even talk about the D1.
that thing weighs so much that even with the W12 option its going to be a sluggish beast... maybe thats what Phaeton means.
