Yellow suits that car as well as your blue.
I think you should sit tight and search high and low for a cactus green one and have the power trio color combo upper cut ultra commmmbooooooooo

Hit a pothole 3 weeks ago and noticed a bubble forming on my passenger front tire - Had a decently nice surprise for tax refund so decided to order some Nitto Grapplers in 265/50/20.

I decided to keep my beat up factory 20" wheels (Honestly, if I really wanted to push this thing offroad .. I would have gone 18s), I'm not going hard and just basic trails. Plus, I'm kind of enjoying the neglected look .. I have no issue parking this thing in compact spots or getting scratches on it .

At the end of the day, I can live with a slightly more aggressive tire, but would like some capability when I do take it offroad.

Should look similar to this:

Otherwise, nothing much has changed - I fixed an injector wiring issue, purchased some BERU coilpacks, new plugs, torque arm, and need to chase a slow coolant leak.

Thing is a runner - I've put 3k miles on it since October

Those AT's are going to be screaming for dear life every time you get on it.

Good for you in getting all that stuff done! I wouldn't even know where to begin with chasing down injector wiring issues.

Max height via air suspension:

You can definitely feel the added weight / more noise at highway speeds but, I'm a fan of the looks.

I'm certainly not well versed in the offroad scene but, 20s aren't ideal on this profile tire - it'll get me through what I need it to do.

I have a few things to address but plan on taking it out on a few trails near me in the next month or so - more pics to follow.

Love this thing,

Trust me, it needs way more than a paint job on the hood

Paint is last on the list for me, as much as I want to get it done.

Here’s what’s left:

- Fix headunit issues, can’t get audio out of a few speakers but it’ll do for now.
- Replace cheap China coilpacks with BERU units.
- Full lower / upper control arm refresh in front
- Replace cornering light / side marker light
- Clear / modify sunroof drains
- Fix or replace washer fluid reservoir as it can’t hold fluid.
- Replace rear hatch struts
- Get an occasional 4WD Faulty message on the dash, I feel it’s a faulty sensor on the stepper motor as it works fine every time I turn the car off / start it back up.

Shitbox life is quite the life.

Good thing you know how to do those yourself.... or you will spend more than what the car is worth in no time.

But yah i dont know whatsup with Porsche's coilpack... i had to help (By help, i mean taking it to the dealership) my boss to replace the coilpack on both of his Panamera Turbo and they were like only 2 years old.

Looks great man! Get on those sunroof drains quick, mine were jammed packed with leaves. I replaced the windshield washer motor and it now runs but I need to figure out why they don't spray, guessing the hose is blocked. Motor was super cheap, assuming the reservoir is too and easy to access in the passenger side fender liner.

Wifey gave me some time on Sunday to do a little wrenching - I wanted to do some work on the S4 as I'm in the middle of doing the timing belt, but decided to do some of the needed items on the other shitbox.

We do have a 1200 mile trip to Utah planned in May - convinced the wife to take the $3800 Cayenne

BERU coils, Iridium plugs, new engine torque arm, Ceratech engine treatment to help mitigate any further bore scoring.

Funny seeing these 2 cars in the same garage ... nightmare fuel

I love the idea, but the reality is I won't tune it.

Money goes into maintenance, replacement parts, and paint only - I love how it's taking shape so far.

Quite the daycare crawler.

Tyler, you work in IT. Surely you do patching/updates on your systems, right? That's maintenance.

A tune is just a patch, therefore, it's maintenance.

3k trouble-ish-free miles so far - what's another 1.3k .

Regarding flights - SD to Utah is roughly $150/person and rental cars are stupid expensive right now (rental is required since we plan on doing a decent amount of exploring) - we'd be saving money even at 17-18mpg.

Should be around $375 in fuel total and it'll give me an opportunity to take it somewhere - sounds like a win win to me

We're planning a trip to GA in July.
Wife asked if we could take the Midget.
Pretty sure we'll make that trip in the Exploder. July in GA with no AC doesn't sound like a good time. Plus it's not really geared for long highway runs.

I have faith in you, just not in the car
Ask around for a Corp Code for one of the big rental agencies.... depends on the code, you will be shocked how cheap rental cars are like a week in Oahu for $200 cheap in 2022. or a weekend in a Denali for $119 with fees all included cheap.
PM me if you are interested.

Like Avis, you can sign up for their Avis Preferred or Avis Preferred Plus (free upgrade) for free if you have Amex platinum. Get off the plane, walk to the car spot indicated on the App. No line, no waiting, no talking to anyone, just get in and leave.

U can get 17 or 18 mpg? thought you would get like 10 or 11...

Where is the A7?

I have faith that the road trip will go just fine.
Cars like to cruise on the highway...2k rpm...not really pushing it...
they even nestle into a nice little frequency where the gas mileage
kinda smooths out and you do okay. At least that's what I've found
in blindly driving a cammed corvette home from texas and the volvo
from NC. It'll be fine...

and if it's not, being single has perks too.

I've driven the Cayenne about 3500 miles so far - doesn't drink a lot of oil, coolant has remained topped off. I think it'll be fine with mostly highway miles and I don't think it'll be terribly hot in May .

After seeing Vice Grip Garage and the miles he puts on cars that have been sitting for 30 years ... I can't imagine something from 2004 that has been daily driven for 5 months will have a bad time.

For a sanity check, I would like to review my oil leaks, validate if the coolant pipes are plastic vs metal (plastic are known to explode / make for a bad time), and maybe get some new-used PCV hoses - mine are so jerry rigged from the PO .. it's a little alarming.

The smart move is taking my wife's MDX, but we both know I'm not smart and like a little gamble.

Are you going to pack a JIC roadside car repair kit?

But, DO IT! It would be fun in the Cayenne.

Oil, coolant, sockets, some screw drivers, JB Weld ... it's actually my B5 S4 roadside kit

Not much of a video guy but, I'll take plenty of pictures.

I plan on getting underneath the Cayenne at some point .. been pretty strapped for time lately.
