HA be sure to check out the previous page as well

Toyota looks really good and after a visit to the dealer (computer flash), my JL is like a whole new vehicle that I now enjoy.

Oh yeah? Did you go in for all of the TSB? I noticed that Falcon and Fox came out with SS, you looking to get one to help with the steering?

Well, I didn't have a TSB but I convinced them to flash it, which should update the steering box.

I have the RC stabilizer and while not my first choice, it came out first and helped a bit. Mileage has gotten better, unless you're 75 or above because then it drops to 12.5-13 but livable now.

I've been looking at gears so lockers only make sense but due to the cost, I think I'll just wait to see if I still want to trade on a Rubi in a year or so. Florida doesn't have a lot of rocks but we have mud and as I'm sure you know, lockers make a world of difference.

You have pics of the Rubi you picked up yesterday?

HA yeah... it's on my phone... I'll upload those pics later. Did they announce anything regarding the 19s? I stopped going to the JL forum I might wait a couple of years to reopen the JLUR purchase.

I read that people said torquing down the balljoints have helped the steering. I'm really surprised with your fuel economy, is that normal with the manual? What size gears are you looking in buying? You look at ARB air lockers?

Yes. I would much rather have a 5AT than a 9AT personally.

When they drop the newer 3.5 in there on the next generation I'm sure they will include the 6AT transmission as well.

Why do you prefer it? From an off-road perspective?

For the past few months I debated about selling it for a new JLUR Wrangler. Found a local dealer offering 6.5% off invoice. I was going to place a 2019 order in September, but I came to my senses and came back to my original justification for not buying a new JL. The new JLs are insanely expensive along with the aftermarket parts. It was hard for me to justify buying a new JLUR and throw more money to mod it. I truly take the T4R for granted, it does everything well. I just miss going doors/top less and wheeling (my 7 year old son regularly asks when we can go wheeling again).

Here's how the T4R currently sits. Since my last update I installed RCI sliders and LED interior lights

So with the renewed focus back on my T4R, I took advantage of the ebay 15% code and got a pedal commander and a garmin dash cam. Going to spend some time this weekend to do these installs.

I was torn about going 33s, wilco spare mount, c4fab front bumper and getting a roof rack. Home/work garage height restrictions played in the decision making and back and forth with the 33s and roof rack.... So I finally decided to place an order for a Gobi rack. My order was confirmed earlier this week and they estimated a 12-16 week production lead time. Seems like people are getting them more at the 20 week range. I researched all of the different roof rack options that were cheaper and had faster lead times (baja rack, front runner, etc), but everything pointed back to the Gobi

So ordered the stealth rack with the no rise, which is similar to the cement above. My plan is to do more overlanding with the T4R next year. Really want to make a road trip out to Moab with my Jeep/Toyota buddies, but potentially Acadia if Moab doesn't work out. I'm going to hold off on 33s until the rack is installed because I'm going to mount maxtrax and rotopaxs on the rack so that'll take away the height clearance. I should theoretically have 2inches to spare once the Gobi is mounted.

This is the c4fab front bumper that I've been wanting. It does require cutting the stock front bumper. Might see what black friday/xmas has in terms of sales that might persuade me into making this decision

I have some JLUR parts going on the T4R :P

Found a set for 700$... installing the 285/70/17 KO2s and selling the rest. Getting the tires mounted tomorrow.

Thanks, I'm only one month into my long wait for the roof rack. Estimates are 12-16 weeks... I'm expecting more on the later side

Holy crap that is crazy. I assume then that they make those on order with that long of a wait.

97BlackAckCL You better get yours order placed now so you have it in time for spring concert season.

Yep, the main reason why I won't deal with Gobi, too long for wait times. I have other plans

my tundra's sliders took 18 weeks, the wait killed me, ironically they've now been sitting in the garage as i haven't had time to put them on for the last 2-3 months

I don't see why that makes them bad parts. Good things come to those who wait

Gobi ones look the best though.

Yea. I debated between Front Runner and Prinsu racks numerous times. Their turn around time is about 2-3 weeks. Front Runner has a lot of great accessory options and seem to be a favorite among the T4R community. The wait time definitely deterred me away from Gobi but I came back for the quality and in my option, the best looking rack for the T4R.

Sooooo.... back in October, I bought a set of used RCI aluminum skids and started looking at other mods to armor up the T4R for wheeling, then I decided that anything I do would not match what I was able to do with the JKU. So come Thanksgiving, i found a local dealer giving 8% off invoice on factory orders and placed an order on a new 2019 Jeep JLUR. I went into the dealership intending to order another orange (punk'd), but saw a hella yella and it changed my mind.

I listed my T4R and within a few days I got someone off the T4R forum contacting me from NC. He owned two previous 5th gen T4R and regretted selling his previous one earlier in the year. So it was a pretty easy sale. Looks like the new owner already ordered RCI skids and a Gobi rack. I'm glad he's finishing what I wasn't able to complete. Prior to listing the T4R for sale, I was able to flip the skids and found someone to take over my Gobi order. Dude lucked out with the wait because it was scheduled to be delivered in January.

Here's how the T4R looked when I sold it:

So since black friday, I've been accumulating parts for the JLUR

Rock Krawler 2.5" x factor lift kit with Falcon 2.1 shocks, MetalCloak skids, Rockhard Sliders, 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers and Method 312s on order.

Dealer originally said it'll take 6-10 weeks for a factory order to be delivered. After 39 days, the JLUR showed up at the dealer last night. Had the sales guy take a few pics for me today

Excited for this new build to begin, wheeling, topless/doorless driving. More updates to come...

Sounds like the new 8 speed tranny on the JLs makes running them a non issue with the rubi 4.10 gears. People do say they lose 8th gear while driving on the highway. I'm going to run the 37s and stock gearing for awhile and see if I want to regear.

I was thinking it would be more of an issue with crawling/ descending.

Still an 8 speed auto and a good computer is probably worlds better than the old 5 speed autos that used a potato to tell them when to shift.

Damn dude, congrats! That 4R looked really, really good but I know you're going to love the JLUR.

I'll respond to your message the JL forum later, been super busy.

Damn loved where your T4R was going. You were building my build so I didn't have to do one someday

Congrats on the new JLUR though

Drove the JLUR home from the dealer on Sunday and started the install of the Rock Hard 4x4 sliders. A number of JL owners have been snapping the two front body mount bolts due to the red loctite on them. I was really worried about snapping the bolts, but thankfully heating them up with a torch definitely made pulling the bolts a lot easier. The other body mount bolts took no effort with a breaker bar.

Got a few more goodies today... unfortunately Fedex decided to treat my wheels like pinatas on it's journey to my house. One wheel got some damage.

Going to start prepping for the lift install in the coming weeks along with getting the wheels/tires mounted.
